Is there a map of all AnPost postbox locations?

This question was asked of my by a person in work who has just moved to Ireland. I thought a quick search of the AnPost site will show this up right? Nop, unless it is well hidden in their site they don't have one.

Anyone know if a map or location details of all AnPost postboxes exists? Any AnPost nerds out there? :)

No map that I've seen. There is a post office services locator here. Now if you don't mind, I'll go back to my stamp collection.

You can write to them and request one. Do you know where to post it?

1 down, many more to go.

Right, I've mailed their customer services to see if they keep such a map/list

Just to cut to the chase here, OP there is no point in robbing postboxes because I'd imagine you get slim pickings.

You know, I was going to attempt to make a funny reply saying how the op wanted to piss in all the post boxes .... but it actually got me thinking :pac:

Why is the insert of post boxes always so high up in the first place? :pac: it would seem such a notion was thought out during the design of the an post post box :pac:

Post office website is terrible, as per most of the state owned bodies websites.

    Update from AnPost:
    Hello
We know the location of all our post box’s however for security reasons do not make it publicly available, I’m sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
    Kind regards

Meh, German friend won't be impressed :)

    Eh, Why ?

Are they afraid of some pro commonwealth movement coming in and painting them all red ??

For what reason would An Post have in the whole world for not wanting people to know where ALL of the Post Boxes in Ireland are ??

Honestly.... I'd rather go down for nicking a 57" TV than a Post Box ! What are you going to do with a post box at home ?? Hope the post man finds you so you can both have a wee chat while he is collecting the mail ?

Why would I not be surprised if this turned out to be bollocks?

    Also, "box's"? For fuck's sake.

By using the link to The Post Office Services Locator already posted by Ruu, your friend will find his local Post Office address and phone number. They will be able to tell him if/where there is a post box in the area.

It's a very big map. Every street and road in Ireland. Big enough to show the several post boxes that are on many of these. Only the Managing Director of An Post has one and it takes him five hours to unfold it, so its only brought to bear in a Postal Emergency Situation.

No ordinary citizen would ever get next or near The Map.

Nah, looks like there's a 5 year delay on responses, so cool your jets a while yet.

Five years on, I suspect he has discovered that. ;)

The problem is that many aren't free standing boxes on the street any more but in the wall of shopping centres etc.

That's the address of Nearest!, a company that offers location based web services. Click on the link and it'll take you to their website :)

If you allow the site to get your location, it'll show what it thinks is the nearest one on the map. It's wrong though, as the info appears to come from OSM (Open Street Map), which is incomplete. My nearest post box is only 500m away whereas the site shows the nearest post office which is 750m away.
