I read they took a trip to Malia to film about 20 seconds of footage..

I was working on the assumption that it was a spelling mistake,as there is no Malia in the Philippines.

But thanks for pointing it out.

But he never said Philippines either :p

Looks like the teenager version of the Hangover. Not really looking forward to this to be honest. The third series was kinda sh!t.

it's amazing to think they are all around 27 and all so believable as teenagers

Are you telling me that the OP pic and this aren't a little too alike? Hmm? C'mon! What I was getting at that (other than the pic reminding me) is it's the same type of humour.

Summer 2011.. that's about as precise as can be put right now.
What went wrong in Season 3?
    Couple of things I think..
    • "The 3rd Season Curse": OK, it's not that.. but it's worth noting some of the best British sitcoms only have 2 seasons: 'Spaced', 'Black Books' etc.
    • Simon Bird (Will) turned from my favourite thing about the show.. his comic timing was impeccable and some of his deliveries are superb to irritating as feck. Smiling and grimacing at every second line delivered.
    • The writing just wasn't strong for the most part
I'll still looking forward to the film, but it was a largely disappointing third season.

I hope they solve the problems of Season Three as I don't think I can sit through what may be essentially a 2 hour feature-length episode.

Black Books had 3 seasons. As did Father Ted. Blackadder was 4. Peep Show is up to 7.

Fawlty Towers is the classic example of course, but there are relatively few "two-season" sitcoms, and it's no real indicator of quality

    http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/movies/s121/the-inbetweeners/news/a311342/video-inbetweeners-stars-chat-the-movie.html
The Inbetweeners star Joe Thomas has revealed that he spends much of the forthcoming film naked.
Speaking to DS at the Jameson Empire Movie Awards, the actor said: "I seem to be naked quite a lot, I didn't really seem to have a wardrobe department for my character."
Co-star Simon Bird added: "Joe's costume, for 60% of the film, he'd walk into the dressing room and it'd just be a pair of pants."
Asked if The Inbetweeners will continue beyond this August's movie spinoff, Blake Harrison said: "It's way too early to tell wherever anything's going to go. At the moment things seem to be quite well wrapped up, but you can never say never, so whether we'll be back for anything else in the future we just don't know.

Am I the only one that gets a distinct Kevin and Perry go Large whiff off that trailer?

I will still go to see it cos I love the show, well, season 1 and 2 at least, however I think it will be fairly predictable fare.

Im also expecting there to be some kind of she-male related antics involving Jay.

Meh,I dont really mind once it doesnt try and take itself too seriously.

You're not the only one - it's something I've been a bit concerned about since I first heard about it! The 'send cast to crappy holiday resort' formula is an unfortunate regularity in upgrading (or more often downgrading) British sitcoms into feature length films.

The one thing that gives me hope is that it is the Inbetweeners, and such a setting is a far more natural setting for the lads then most attempts at similar material. Hopefully it will bring the lulz.

I think what makes the Inbetweeners so likeable is that every guy, or nearly every guy has know the real life versions of the four main characters at some point in their teens or school years, I knew all four :pac: and we went on a lads holiday so its a cliche, but a realistic one

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

That's def true. Maybe not as extreme but I think most if not all guys had a mate who was either:

    Full of shít
    Nice but dim
    A bit posh
Stropy teen that blows on about a girl.

    I was all 4 in one :)

The Inbetweeners has always been one of the more accurate portrayals of teenage and school life - obviously exaggerated for comedic effect, but definitely sharp and observational on the silly banter and idiocy of being a teenage lad. Second only to Freaks & Geeks as a secondary school show that seems to have been written by people who actually went to secondary school.

I wouldn't be too down on season 3, it had Hannah Tointon.

Though I guess I won't be able to say that of the film...?

Love the tv show but there's no way would I go to the cinema to watch this. It looks like a normal episode but the lads are on holiday.

if this is anything like Season 3 I'll give it a miss.

Funny enough I've watched the show from the beginning of Season 1. Seasons 1 & 2 were just brilliant. Season 3 was a huge letdown. The majority of people I know only started watching it at the start of Season 3 due to the hype before the start of that season. They had nothing to compare Season 3 to, therefore finding it hilarious.

I can't specify enough though how poor the Third Season was :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

I think I must be the one that didn't really mind the third season. Granted I watched it over a couple of weeks on DVD so maybe that helped but it didn't take a heroes did in quality by any means.

Personally, im looking forward to this film more then any others this summer. Even if it's half as good as the TV show it'll still be better then the hangover 2.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,015 ✭✭✭Paddy Samurai

Just seen the trailer.I know you can't rely on trailers.

    LOL.....but it looks brillant!.:D

    Can't wait!.

    Sounds good to me.

I will definitely go see it after watching the trailer, it's looking good.

Really want to see this in the cinema but looks like Storm aren't showing it and Omniplex website says 'Coming Soon' but doesn't specify to which county.

Can anyone tell me if this will make it to a cinema in Limerick? Thanks!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,195 ✭✭✭✭Basq

It's on wide release so it'll be in a local cinema.

Think there is even advanced previews.

l really enjoyed the show, but this looks beyond awful!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,962 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

    Thanks Basq,

TBH, I was a late comer to the tv show because everytime I saw an ad for it, it looked awful. After getting my head wrecked by friends on how good it was I gave it a go and it is now my favourite comedy show so I'm not gonna pay any attention to the trailer for this one as I'm guessing the best stuff isn't suitable for tv ads.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,662 ✭✭✭RMD

I thought the trailer was brilliant. The group on a typical lads holiday to somewhere as nuts as Malia could be an excellent plot.

  • Administrators, Computer Games Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 32,530 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭Mickeroo

Looks like it'll just be a longer episode of the show, would have been better off showing it on a one off special. It's not out til the 17th though right? I'll still go see it, woh knows, it could surprise us. It's not like Film Four have a bad track record producing movies I suppose.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,542 ✭✭✭Captain Darling

Hope it doesnt turn out like bloody Kevin and Perry Goes Large.

The scene with the blonde dude on the motor bike was perhaps one of the funniest things i've ever seen on television in terms of physical comedy. If they've a few moments like that in the movie it'll be alright by me. :D
