Norman wrote a very informative and balanced article on the ins and outs of deer stalking.

You could tell there was first hand experience as he described scenarios the way we all have experienced them.
It would be nice to see hints and tips on skinning, butchering DIY style and field dressing for Irish conditions in the next article.

Yeah - this growing problem needs to be highlighed at every oppurtunity to alert the general public, particulary people like ordinary hunters who know their local area well and can keep an eye out for such activities and assist in bringing these criminals to justice.

    Enjoyed the E-zine

But, was the Poaching article written by Anti's?

It says "Hunting at night is illegal and highly unethical"

and advises people to call the Gardai if they have concerns about shooting at night in their area?

Or another favorite bit " many reports of Deer being exploited for their Venison".

Isn't that very, very like Hunting? I would say I harvest deer for Venison, but maybe I'm exploiting them?

It's content is not a million miles from the Sh*te put out by Icabs

ICABS is calling on Ireland's forestry board, Coillte, to stop selling licences to hunters to shoot defenceless forest creatures.

The licences Coillte are selling will allow hunters to target deer, birds and "other wild quarry species". The animals that will be gunned down include both forest wildlife and creatures introduced to the forests and released as living targets for shooters.

    ACTION ALERT

Please urgently contact Coillte and demand that they stop selling licences to hunters and making profits from the killing of defenceless animals and birds.

I wonder do anti's realise if we didnt shoot the deer then there would be no ****ing forests due to the damage they would do by over populating , Of course the stupid cnuts would be giving out about the lack of forests then! how do we win??? I think anti's really need to cop the fcuk on and do their research before they open their fat fupping mouths ! really really pisses me off some of the ****e they come out with

I may have phrased a little differently but you are right. The problem with most anti's are they are not open to seeing a different point of view. Most hunters can see that treating an animal badly is wrong and most do their best to limit the suffering of an animal they kill. The anti's see the killing of any animal as wrong weather it is a quick kill or not. Rather than being open to see the benefit of killing some animals like fox's, mink etc or killing animals for food harvest. The anti's by not being open to other views make themselves look bad and more importantly make their argument which might be of benefit look like anti propaganda.

The article in question was sent to me from the wild deer association it was a press release in a Donegal newspaper. I think what it was aiming to say is that more people are shooting deer and selling them because of the price of venison. It is the people poaching and lamping deer like this that will ruin it for the rest that do so reasonably.

The wild deer association are becoming blinkered in relation to poaching and as I have said before seem to lump anyone who goes out at night for foxes as a poacher. While they are way off the mark on it, a Ranger was telling me that any Poacher caught at night will tell you that they are out lamping foxes. It would appear that to protect "Their Deer hunting" they are willing to hang out to dry the guy who is legitimately lamping foxes by stating its' dangerous unethical etc and remember they are also pushing an agenda that seems to say if your not in our club your not a real hunter as you dont have hcap etc.

I had this "discussion" with a guy at Birr, and to say it got heated would probabally be mild. Throwing assertions around that lamping at night is dangerous and un ethical is like me saying that shooting deer with high powered rifles in Coilte areas where the public frequent and have access or on mountains where there are hikers is going to result in someone getting shot;) Can you imagine if I went on the radio and started spouting that drivel in response to their mantra

This Organisation would be far better of looking for assistance from guys that frequently lamp to be alert for unusual cars/vans etc instead of doing the job for the antis. :(

Cavan Shooter I'd love an article about it if you'd like to submit!:D

Enjoyed the magazine, lots to read and plenty of different articles on fishing and shooting alike. Just wonder why the article on the woman shooting a muley was included. A bit sad reading about the pathetic attempts to shoot the animal (one shot below it and one shot over it's back before she actually hit it). Surely a bit embarrasing for the women, her family and we the readers? If the woman could not hit a large animal until the third shot she should not be let use a rifle and certainly shouldn't have an account of the incident published!

Well done on the magazine-only saw it today for the first time and i think its excellent. i really enjoy hearing other peoples point of view and opinions and its a great way of learning. however if someone has a complaint and they go that over the top i suggest you just delete it. if he doesnt like your emag then he doesnt have to read it-and besides you gained a new fan today.

    keep up the good work

    Strange/unfortunate headline on page 24.

On reading at first, I thought CS was the culprit. :o

Thanks Moby30. While the writer may have gone over the top i am interested to hear people's opinion as to weather he is right. Even though I may not agree with the writer he has the right to be heard as do all readers.

Its good to see that you give everyone the right to be heard-it will stand to your magazine. i just think that if people want to complain a little manners and professionalism goes a long way.unfortunately im not as technically minded so where i did enjoy reading the article i cant give an opinion as to wether he is right or not. i have however got 109 foxes this year and would love to see and hear more stories and tips in future editions.

    thanks again
