    I would see no problem with this. Sounds like your orthodontist is trying to take the fear away from you thinking he will deliberately lengthen the treatment by offering you a 'maximum ceiling' price but letting you know that it may not come to that. I tend to do that with patients to allow them to budget as well as possible before starting treatment. Not the way everyone does it, but suits some people well.

    Thanks for the reply. I am happy with the treatment I have received to date!! Its a long way to go and I can't wait to see an improvement!! I know it will be money well spent but it is still a lot and it was not an easy decision to make!!
