I recently went shooting with me cousin in the Wicklow mountains and really enjoyed the skill involved in target shooting, so much so I’m hoping the buy a rifle of my own And take up the sport. So can you long timers help me out hear, I know the first thing I need to do is join a Gun Club, however I’ve been looking at the advertisements on joining a Gun Club in Dublin and the only one I see listed nearest to my location (kilmainham D8) is Courtlough in Balbriggan, with a membership OF €250.00 per year.
Is there other Clubs in Dublin near me that I Don't know about, and could they have a lower membership fee?

    Thanks in advance.

You wont get into Garristown they have a "click" and you wont get in unless your pally pally with members of the committee. I'm a member of the parish and as a general rule by alot of gun clubs if you are a member of the parish you have a right to join even if they're closed for membership...but not Garristown... its run by a circle of lads who dont want anyone else in the club.. Naul is closed due to full membership. Fingal sporting.... ehm less said about that setup the better :P coming from first hand experience lads !

To be honest most of the clubs now are like that , im a member of one of the above clubs and you wont get in on less your da is a member or your bringing a few thousand acres with you.(rules get bent to suit agendas)
A lot of Dublin clubs lost a savage amount of land during the property boom so the land now is scarce enough so we are only letting in one member as another member dies and the list is forthy long so not much chance of getting in. That unforunatly for some is the way it is in most clubs now.

Are they not ranges. The OP, going by his post, is looking for an NARGC (game club) not an NASRPC (target range). Now if Hilltop, etc also have game clubs then my apologies.

No need for apologies. With the alphabet soup of organisations i thought i typed NASRPC, or NRAI, or GXR1100R, etc.:D
