    what does it taste like?

also..what's the best before date on the pack...coffee is often reduced when BBD is coming close...?

if you like it strong and you've got a grinder, i can highly recommend the black & beyond, it's very deep & rich, but without being too bitter. i'm a sucker for a latte, but i like it really strong and it does a really good job imho. :)

not so sure you'll get the black & beyond cheap, but it's still well worth it.

Bbd is Nov 2012, haven't tasted it yet. Bought it in ballybrack but was also in dun laoghaire, so presume its all stores

I got a packet of this stuff.

Its, um, not up to much

Aldis Java is miles better ( even if it is over twice the price )

I suppose percol is OK if you like (whisper it ) mild coffee

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 413 ✭✭xraylady

Just got last 4 packs in Tesco Killarney. Only Guatemala blend reduced although all are marked €4.02. Thanks..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,909 ✭✭✭✭Wertz

Certainly somewhat mild compared to my normal stuff (Java) but an extra spoon of it and it'll do. Drank (and paid for) worse. Still a bargain.

There are a good few left in Ballyfermot, be careful of the expiry dates though, they range from Jan 11 to march 12. Had to have a root for the mar 12 ones.

I thought it was a bit yuck. Maybe there is a reason why it is priced so low.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 413 ✭✭xraylady

I find it fine and usually like coffee quite strong. - open one and check it out... I'm happy with it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,016 ✭✭✭✭vibe666

i didn't try the fairtrade one, but the percol black & beyond one is very nice and strong enough to raise the hairs on the back of your neck! :)

None left on shelf in Tesco Wilton. Am quite interested in getting this as I go through a lot of ground coffee, so if anyone has seen it elsewhere in Cork, can they post the info?

You sure you picked up the right packet? It is only the Guatemala blend that is scanning at 1.02E.

I have been getting it from clearwater since the OP posted.

I also bought Tesco Finest Brazilian Instant Coffee - priced online at 4.55 but in store in both Birr and Tullamore in the past couple of weeks for approx €1.30 maybe €1.35. ( I cannot remember exactly but less than €1.40)

I've tried this and it is good.

Best before date on the ones I bought was Aug 2013.

In Killarney, the Guat. Percol coffee has now been labelled as €1.02 (in bright yellow) beside other Percol blend which is €4.08. All gone. - We've been rumbled...
Brazilian instant , mentioned above, also clearly priced at €1.30 or so.
