My work mates cant believe that 5hours is enough for me.

The Last week i've just managed to get about 4hours per night. The change in daylight hours really affects me!

How much sleep to you need/get on average per night?

    Yeah, about 5-6 hours normally.

    Probably not enough tbh.

4 hours is usually enough for me and I probably haven't had anything near 8 hours sleep in 15-20 years .

4/5 hours, sometimes more, sometimes less. Rarely, but often enough to be notable, I get the urge to sleep for 14 hours, though.

I get around 10 hours on my days off from work and around 7 when I'm working but once I'm back to college it'll be around 6-7. I'd love to be able to get up early every morning but I need my sleep-ins.

4 or 5 hours a night. I usually wake up and just lie in bed for hours, trying to get back to sleep tho. There are nights when I can't sleep and just lie in bed for hours, before giving up and getting up. ugh...

I once slept for about 16 hours in my friends house, the whole family are so polite they were afraid to wake me

I just stay awake until I fall asleep, then can be down anywhere from five hours to twelve or thirteen. If I have a good dream I'll just roll over and hope it continues.

Probably around 5/6 on a school night, but on the weekends I clock in 12, sometimes 13.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,692 ✭✭✭✭OPENROAD

Normally 8 hours, but these last 10 days or so, about 5 hours.

Probably not enough, just woke up half an hour before the alarm clock!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,725 ✭✭✭charlemont

I'm Cannabis free tonight so I reckon i'll only sleep for about 5/6 hours.
I might have nightmares after what I saw from my window earlier.

Usually 6-7 hours for 4/5 days followed by a 12-14 hour recharge ;D I try to aim for 8 but usually get about 6 and a half to 7. Anything less than 6 and I feel like ****. My brain goes 90 but my body goes 2 and my face feels like its going to fall off.

When I am working (shift) I can go 4/5 days with 1 hour cat naps here and there but it's not uncommon for me to sleep 16/17 hour when I have days off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,130 ✭✭✭Azureus

If Im on early shifts I get 4-5 hours.
On 9-5/late shifts Id get a good 8 usually.
Stack up 10 or so on the weekends.
    I love sleeps.

    Same.
Although if I were able, I'd sleep about 12 hours.
Tired all the time though no matter how much I get.

You crazy sleep deprived walking viles of cortisol are killing yourselves.
Get your room blacked out and sleep for a minimum of 8-9 hours.
The internet/computer game or whatever will still be there in the morning.

3 hours last night but that was me cramming some more of my thesis in for today!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,316 ✭✭✭✭amacachi

I probably average about 9 hours a day most of the time. There's weeks I'll average 3-4 hours though. My lack of sleeping pattern means I'll often sleep 15 different times a week, not including during my commute.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 221 ✭✭revell

min 6 hours during work days and min 12 hours during weekend

    no max limit though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,713 ✭✭✭✭Novella

Some nights in the week I only sleep for maybe 3 or 4 hours and then one night I could sleep for 11 or 12. No balance to my sleeping pattern.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,775 ✭✭✭✭kfallon

Usually in bed or about 8 hours, how much of it is actually sleep is another thing tho. I'm a very light sleeper so I tend to wake up a few times during the night and then have to get back to sleep again. I'd say I prob average about 6 hours unless I have "The Fear" after the gargle, down to about 2 or 3 then, fooking poxy Sunday nights

i stayed up for 4 days straight once just to see if i could do it, wud recommend it, you reach a stage after exhaustion where your brain becomes numb, your body is still moving but nothing registers. slept for a full day afterwards. when i eventually woke, i felt like a different person and everything was new. like when your phone is acting up, letting the battery die and rechargin it fully.

4 to 6 hours does me when im working, i work shift work and only 3 days a week so sleep pattern doe be all over the place. On my days off 6 to 8 hours rarely sleep for any longer than that.

People sleeping up to 12 hours etc just seem like a waste to me.

How ever long my 2 babies let me have:(

I am being held to ransom-I would ideally need 9-10 hours but I'm lucky to get 5-6 these days and that is broken in the middle.

Woe is me-need more and more caffeine these days.

Going by your username do you have to get up in the night to change yourself too :pac:

Kids must be a nightmare during the night, not sure how I could get up at 2/3/4am every night to look after them

7 at the least, usually about 7.5 to 8.5.

In my opinion, the exact best time to sleep is go to bed between 11.15 and 11.30pm and wake up between 7.15 and 7.30am (if your commute time allows it); gives you about 7 hours 45 mins of good sleep on average, after taking into account time taken to fall asleep. These hours also seem, to me, to be the best hours to be awake. I have to say, I'm lucky that I don't really experience problems with sleep.

6-7. Any less and I'm cranky.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,239 ✭✭✭KittyeeTrix

Not enough is the answer. During the week probably between 4-6 hours. At the weekend slightly more. I used to be able to sleep in but just can't anymore for some reason.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,573 ✭✭✭pragmatic1

Yeah I get something similar. If I get 7 hours I'm more rested than if I get 8.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 479 ✭✭membersonly

7 hours for me but most of my friends think that's alot....5/6 hours seems to be the norm for alot of people..
