Things I Love About Autumn!

I love all the seasons for different reasons, and right now I'm falling in love with Autumn like I do every year.

Here are some, but by no means all, of the things I love about autumn.:)

Those very first golden leaves blowing in the breeze on the grass.

That first morning you feel the bite in the air and start thinking about the central heating.

    New boots!:)

    The evenings drawing in.

That first evening you get in the door glad to be out of the cold.

Lighting an open fire, and watching it all night as though you've never seen one before.

Comfort food, TV in bed, fluffy PJ's.

Walking through a carpet of fallen leaves, kicking and swishing like a kid.

    Hallowe'en!

Starting to think about and plan Christmas (a whole other thread!).

    Cosy fashion.:)

    Got any to add?

The smell of fire in the air.

    The crunchy sound leaves make.

    Hats and scarves.

    The colours of nature :D

    It's my favourite season!

I think i have managed to put together a nice collection of coats down throughout the years, looking forward to breaking them out again once the weather takes its inevitable turn for the worse(or better if like me you have an awesome selection of coats and hoddies)

    Costal walks by angry seas.
Wind bitten ears warming up in the car.
Pulling into a country pub for a bowl of hot soup.
Getting in to warm comfy clothes after getting soaked.
Stormy weather reminding you how lucky you are to be warm and safe.
Rain tapping on the window as you pull the duvet up to your ears and drop off to sleep.

The thing I love about Autumn the absolute most, is the face your almost guaranteed drier, better weather than 'summer'!

Less rain than in the Summer

These are more winter specific I think!

    Good for autumn too though.:)

Really the only thing I don't like about autumn is that winter comes after it. But that's so huge I have a hard time enjoying autumn because I REALLY hate winter.

Oooh I love the long evenings! Specially if the weather waits until I'm indoors before bucketing down :)

Dragging your feet through little piles of leaves - or better yet wrecking a BIG pile of leaves by dragging your feet through it (or possibly kick it a little) :D

    Cool, sunny days.

    Morning fog.

My birthday (in it for the pastry) :D

Candle-lit evenings with Frank Sinatra music on low in the background, while the rain is falling heavily outdoors and hitting the window.

    ... Oh, the beauty!! :o

    Conkers!

    The harvested fields
The reds, golds, yellows and greens of the trees
    Wearing warm wollies
Reminds me of childhood looking out the window at the rain pouring down and being all warm and snug inside!
Stews and soups my Mum used to make and now I make for my son.
Lighting the fire and the lovely red and blue flames that glow
Kicking the leaves up in the air with my son on forest walks.

Such a beautiful time of year.:)

Seems like a good time of year for food, making blackberry jam and the like. :) Like the changes in nature, too.

I like all the same things you guys have mentioned, the changing of the leaves, berries are in season and conkers of course, but I also love the low sun. I don't know how to explain it but everything looks so much more beautiful in the low sun.

I love how it makes my hair shine a deep shade of red and it makes my eyes glow. I never feel more beautiful than when I stand outside in the Autumn sunshine.
Wrapped up in a warm coat I like to smile to myself, close my eyes and take a deep breathe in. In that moment I feel untouchable, that the world is perfection.

I like Autumn for the colours, but also as it's the time of year for beginning things. All the years in school and college have made its mark!

Oh, and the last of the vibrant green against a grey sky always make the leaves look sharper.

Oh and another thing is love is usually in the air around Autumn, last few harvests have found me quite smitten. Perfect time because it's just in time for the Winter and everyone needs body heat in Winter.

  • Registered Users Posts: 438 ✭✭allydylan

this may be considered more of a thing to love about winter, but i guess we live in ireland so it applies all year around

the feeling of hearing the rain and wind outside at night and being all warm and toasty in your bed
    i love that feeling

It makes sense but usually I find the summer or around Christmas better...with these harsh winters though ya'd want someone found by autumn or ya'd be very low on body heat by Christmas!
