You brought it to Boards not MS and as someone pointed out, they aren't gonna setup several accounts on different sites just to apolagise to you

WOW Some thread this has been and has attracted quite a lot of attention!

Lets hope Microsoft has seriously screwed up North.I know you can't wait to shove it in our faces if that's the case:D

"The man who took on Microsoft....and won":P

If they unban your console, I would see that as a victory enough. Realistically they aren't going to apoligise to anybody on an invidual case but release a general statement to all affected. I know you probably won't agree with that but a month of LIVE should sort that!

P.s when can we beat the kid?!

Hey north, looking forward to hearing what they have to say. I just hope

This is going to be my last post here now till I get the resolution I'm looking for.

I had a two minute call this evening from an Irish lad who was as helpful as the other morons I have been talking to in MS unsupport.

To cut to the chase I am in breach of their terms and conditions on console bans he does not have access to this information but it is checked and rechecked and they are sure even though they can't see it, they have not made a mistake.

I have asked for this in writing and I will see them in court.

This is it for Xbox for me. I will invest back into a decent PC I guess.

I will check in after I get my resolution in the courts.

F*** Microsoft for putting me through this!!

That article states that the XBL account gets banned, as in a gamertag ban. The OP reports that his account is fine, it's his console that has been banned.

That's what you get from poor journalism referencing hearsay and conjecture.

It's the newer copy protection method used on 360 games that your quote refereed to.

As an aside, no it isn't. XGD3 is a new disc format that increases the space available for game data by approximately 1GB over the previous format. The creation of this new format requires the DVD drive firmware to be updated (flashed) during a system update so that consoles can read XGD3 game discs.

AP2.5/2.6/CVI is the copy protection :)

@OP: If you're still interested, XVal 2.0 is fine to run as long as you got it from a reputable site like xbins. It's coded by Redline99, a name held in high regard in the scene of xbox modding/reverse engineering.

Oh so your writing deliberately controversial articles, no matter how flaky and weak the evidence is, for the sake of advertising revenue?

Think that's any credibility you had gone.

purely a way of trying to get a comment out of ms lads
There are better ways to get a comment from a company other than blackmail and lies (Not that MS would be intimidated by an Irish entertainment website, but that's not the point)

If you can't get an official response (which you tried, and didn't), you don't go off and make up a story without some valid sources.

its video games, not the feckin pulitzer prize

also, its not anonymous since i actually know fielddog in person

as i said, its just a way of trying to get a comment out of microsoft, dont put too much weight in it. always try to take anything that uses phrases like "may have" "could have" and "possibly" liberarlly as lightly as possible

So, we should have no journalistic standards, because it's video games? Bull. You don't write for the Daily Mail.

You may know him in person, but your source is still a "friend of a friend", not exactly reliable. This guy also only started working there recently. We have a number of support staff here, and I could be wrong, but since they go out of their way in some of the replies here (and potentially break company policy), I can't imagine that if they knew something, they wouldn't at least mention it here (Even a "we've been informed about the issue. Wait for a statement" response). That's just the impression I get. I genuinely don't think they've been told of any fault on Microsoft's end.

You make up a story about Black Ops DLC flagging consoles for Marketplace theft, QJ.net makes up a story that the DLC causes consoles to get flagged as stolen units.... chinese whispers

Well it's going on for over a week now you think ms would come out and say if there was a problem or not. Unless they like the Chinese whispers.

Cheers dude, I'm glad someone appreciates us lol And in complete honesty, we haven't been told a single thing about this whole situation, we're just treating it like any other console ban wave.

I was chatting to UK support guy he said almost the same as above.

As this is my first experience of console ban or any type of punishment in seven years of using the service Microsoft I can tell you the experience is quite new to me.

Does this feel like previous console bans?
