Just a bit of fun for teh gheys (for those who aren't 'entirely sure' that was a spelling variation of the gays )

I'd imagine it would be like watching an episode of Two And a Half Men , not overly horrifying but just uncomfortable and I wouldnt wanna be there .

so how difficult would it be for you ?

    Hm, I'm not sure!

As a younger person, I would've been very much like NO, NO, NO, COULD NOT, CANNOT, ABSOLUTELY NOT, HOW COULD YOU EVEN ASK THAT.

But as I've gotten older, and more confident and secure in myself and my sexuality, I think more I'd probably be able to do the sex, and probably think it was ok, if they were good at it.

    Probably..

It's the relationship part that would never happen - I'm gonna be with a lovely lady for the rest of my life, I think :)

I'm not 'a ghey' and I'm not entirely sure what 'a ghey' is either

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I'm not a gold star, and this is pretty much the viewpoint I'd take. I'm not grossed out by the actual act, but was pretty "meh" about it. I really just can't imagine myself in a relationship with a guy though.

I lived with a guy for three years when I was younger so technically I guess I am but I haven't been with one in over a decade. Don't know if that answers your question but honestly on the topic at hand, I've a very good platonic male friend and if he even so much as removes his shirt in front of me during the summer I get angry and tell him I don't want to be confronted by his body hair, or even so much as smell his sweat in my vicinity. If his bare skin touches of me I get angry and the sight of a man demonstrating his sexual prowess makes me pukey so it would take a lot to even think of sleeping next to one let alone having sex with one.

compared to my gf the opposite sex would have a lot to come up against

i did experiment with girls when i was younger and it did absolutely nothing for me.

so, i wouldn't rate having sex with a woman, it just wouldnt physically be able to happen

absolutely, i've been with the opposite sex a few times, always enjoyed myself. some things are better, others aren't. in terms of physical contact, sex with men is nicer, and i reckon most men would agree with that, if there wasn't a stigma attached to homosexual encounters. everyone should try it at least once. i'm not a believer of the whole 'oh god, i couldn't, gross!' mentality.

Nope :) I identify as gay.. well, maybe queer.. well.. maybe meh!

Women get my pulse racing, and I connect on a completely different emotional level with women, compared to men. I don't want to be in a relationship with a man, and I want to be in a relationship with a woman. :)

I agree with that part completely in theory but any time I've had a girlfriend I've just went absolutely batsh!t insane and turn into an absolute prick .

I've only kissed a couple of girls but I found the experience very strange, it just doesn't feel right.

Not much in the way of respect for other peoples sexuality here then. If you want people to respect your sexual orientation I'd suggest you try respecting theirs.

Well I found it a bit odd that he said "sex with men is nicer and most men would agree with that if there wasn't a stigma attached to homosexual encounters"

Effectively he's saying that the majority of men would prefer sex with men. I would have to disagree with that and say that the majority of straight men are just that - straight. And prefer sex with women. In that way, he was disrespecting peoples sexuality.

But perhaps I am reading it completely wrong in which case I apologise! :)

This is exactly the point I'm making. I'm a straight woman with plenty of gay friends and never in a million years would I suggest that heterosexual sex is the way to go and the only reason they don't know that is because they're not doing it! How intrustive do you have to be to tell other people what they ought to be doing in bed? And how little respect do you need to have for other peoples sexual autonomy to make such a suggestion in the first place?

If I said similar to my gay friends I'm sure they'd tell me to fcukoff. I'm also sure I'd deserve it.

Well then WonderWoman, why do you see no disrespect in someone making a blanket statement that straight men ought to be sleeping with each other? Respecting peoples sexual orientation is (or ought to be) a two-way street. Suppose I said in your company: "Sex with men is nicer and gay women would agree if they only did it often enough - they should definitely all try it at least once!"

I would say that remark was ignorant and presumptuous in the extreme and you can be sure it would never come out my mouth, but let's say it did - how would that go down with you?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,920 ✭✭✭✭stephen_n

I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to say - Sorry!

The comment would be some what akin to saying that gay men only have sex with men because they can't get women. He is questioning the validity of straight men's sexual preferences by suggesting that they are only straight because of the stigma of homosexuality. I am pretty sure there are plenty of posters here who would be up in arms if anyone tried to suggest that Gay people only prefer same sex, sex because they have not tried sex with the opposite sex which is the transverse of what that poster said.

    Hi All,

I think this is a good topic, and interesting to read. I am a straight female and have many gay friends both male and female. Having known them for a long time, they have been with both sexes, but over time seem to prefer the same sex, and my male gay friend said he could not be with a women now if he wanted, just couldnt perform!!
But I just wanted to discuss the point about men should try it with other men and they may enjoy it more etc!!
I have to agree with the other guys, I think thats a bit of a silly statement to make, I mean my partner of over 10 years is a very open guy and knows my gay friends but would never even consider it...he is just straight and loves women. But most of my gay friends have said this to me many times, that I should try it with a women once etc, and that I would prob like it more. I mean if I wanted a women I would go out and find one, in this day and age wouldnt care if I was bi or gay, but Im not, and I hated when my gay friends even suggested this. So I do think that some gay people think that just because they enjoy same sex, that we should aswell......and if a straight person said that to them, that they should go back to the opposite sex as they would prefer it, it would be considered homophobic!!! well thats my take on it.. I think each to their own. If you want a man today and women tmo then so be it....Love has no gender as they say!!

Okay back on topic this was more just a way to gauge how different we view heterosexual encounters , It's interesting to see differing opinions like how some are okay with and even enjoy them and still identify as gay and some are absolutely mortified by it , so lets try, for the first time ever on the LGBT forum not let it get into a semantics debate .

Sounds like me - connecting different on an emotional level. But I'm the opposite to your other post - I might be up for the relationship aspect but not the sex. It's like 'meh' or it was in my experience but that's going back a bit. To be fair, it might've been just our inexperienced age that made for the 'meh'

I'm sure the actual sex bit would be grand, if the guy were attending to me ;), but I'm pretty sure I'd find it a bit... unpleasant to be doing stuff to a guy. I just don't want to. Plus the thought of snuggling with a guy afterwards is just odd to me, like a completely alien concept. All hard and hairy. Weird.

But I don't think I'd be like "OH GOD NOOOOOOOOOOOO!" if the situation arose and I was horny and single... but who knows?

I don't think so and fortunately as it's my life it doesn't really matter what you think. But he is my friend as much as it písses you off and we're perfectly able to co exist without seeing each others naked bodies, we've even been known to bear hug occasionally. Sometimes we even manage to have fun and laugh a lot, or drink beer and who'd have thunk it, work together. We buy each other gifts on birthday's and christmas and very often we do more than talk, sometimes we cry (when I say we I mean me) and help each other out but mostly we get to share life's little stories with each other every other day. I just don't need to see his fur to do any of it.
