    Wow! thats a small ship!

I spent my holidays for about 8 years on a friends converted 60ft C.I.E. barge "The Owl" in Athlone.

We traveled the length and breath of the Shannon on that barge and she was always very capable and sea (lake) worthy.

Very cosy in the winter with her solid fuel stove, and plenty of outdoor space up on top to enjoy when the sun was shining. I enjoyed eight Shannon rallies on her. Hard to handle though, and if you hit anything with it, whatever you hit got broke!! Cant remember her overall weight, but I recall there was several tonnes of concrete in her for ballast!
TristanPeter's photo brings back fond memories.
