Based on my personal tastes I would have to disagree.

The benchrest models have adjustable objective lenses, which are awkward to reach for when in hunting scenarios.
Also hunting rifles tend to get used in dirtier environments. Grit/dirt and objective lenses are not a great combination. The can end up feeling like a pepper grinder unless you take extreme care over them.

I prefer side adjustable parallax scopes because of the above.

The benchrest do have 0.125 MOA click values which is handy for accurate shot placement for use on the range. I'd argue the 0.25 MOA adjustments are fine for hunting.

    That's my take anyway

I'd have to agree vith Vegeta. The side parallax is much handier for hunting, especially for lamping, as parallax does become an issue under the lamp. The NSX models were designedfor tactical use, so they should be able for more punishment, which is better for hunting.

I have both NXS and BR models. the differences would be.

    Adjustment

The NXs has 0.25 click value, and the BR has 0.125 click value. The BR is primarily used for Benchrest and F-Class shooters due to the finer adjustment values and is especially useful at loger ranges. In field conditions, and consideing most shoots are taken at 300 yards or less the 0.25 (NXS) click value is more than sufficient.

    Parallex

The NSX has the side parallex. The BR has the parallex on the front objective lens housing. Now the side parallex on the NXS is not as fine as the BR model but is much quicker to get to in field conditions.

Also with the side parallex the NXS has one extra lense and this does cause reduced light in the scope, but the amount of reduction is so small that it could not be noticed by the human eye.

    Endurance

The design of the BR scope means that while not easily damaged it was meant for target shooting in a fixed position and not for dragging through ditches, etc. So th NXS would be classed as a tougher scope than the BR model.

    Zero Stop

A feature found only on NXS models. You set the rifle for a 10 yard zero. Adjust the zero stop (little adjustment on the underside/side of the scope) and if you ever loose/forget the adjustments you've made you can re-set your zero by quickly and without having to count the elevation turret until it stops. You are now back at your 100 yard zero.

    Price

The NXS is more expensive than the BR model. For example the 12-42x56 currently runs around €1850. The BR model runs around €1350 obviously depending on dealer, etc.

It comes down to personal choice. The BR will work on a hunting rifle, but the NXS would be the better choice. However at a few hundred euro in the difference it also depends on your budget.

One thing i will say if its hunting you are into and this is the primary use then look at the 5.5-22x56 model. Excellent range of adjustments (110 or so in elevation and almost the same in windage) The 5.5 power is low enough to allow alot of light in and would be better under lamp than the higher powered models. Then the 22 power would be good for up to and in excess of 600 yards (depending on shooters ability).

I have a couple of NSX scopes, both here and in the US of A. None are used for hunting per se - at least, of the boinging around the countryside type of hunting, but in the USA both are great when out prairie-dog culling at extreme ranges [extreme ranges for me, that is].

I'm sure there are better scopes out there, but in my local clubs - here and in UK, they are very popular for BR as well as TR and practical/tactical - good value for money too.

    Your opinions may differ.
