I work in a phone shop and haven't paid for any of those phones and Ill prob get an experia play for free and just use it for games.
But if I had to pay for a phone, there's no hope in hell I'd paid anything more than 200 and would never contemplate any thing longer than 12 months in a contract.
Its mad what you see in store.

'why do you want an iPhone?'

'I dunno, its an iPhone, its the best.'

'what about this phone its a half the price, same camera, better internet, has flash player, battery is the same, contract is only 12 months and it doesn't fall apart if it hits the ground and you can bring outside when it rains. What ya think?'

'Nah Ill get the iPhone, its the best sure its an iPhone.'

'okay that 149 and an 24 month contract at at least 40 euro per month.'

Yep for a lot of people an apple product is more useful as a fashion accessory. I fall asleep when one of my friends starts going on about whatever new phone he got. Last time I tried to save the conversation by asking did he have any Cave games and he said 'sure I'll just buy them' before nearly getting sick when he saw the price was well above 0.99 euro and then not buying them.

I always found the syncing system that apple products use to be really stupid and counter intuitive. Every other device, be it USB or firewire just works when you plug it in.

Playing games on your phone is a great idea, until you realise you have to charge your phone 3 times a day :(
    .
    nein nein!!
mine goes about 1-1.5 days between charges , which in fairness has been the same with every phone I've had for the last few years
surfing the net is the big battery drain , not gaming suprisingly.
The DS lite is TERRIBLE for emus by comparison to the xperia.
The Meg ones couldnt display the screen properly (scrolling it with the shoulder buttons), the SNES ones were too slow , the C64 one (frodo) wouldnt load much.Plus no ones put out a new one for it in the last few years.
PSP might be better but I'll stick to my phone thanks!

Found the DS horrendous as well but not used it for emu in a while. PSP is a lot better but for one thing, those ****ty controls.

Right im ordering some hama beads

    midi or mini sized ones?

I find the emulators on the DS rubbish to be honest.
It just doesn't have the horsepower to run them properly. The iPad does a good job on them but you need to jailbreak it and also on screen controls for emu's are worthless so you need a controller as well which removes the portability of it a bit. The mini wii controllers do the job nicely though if you don't mind using them.

The PSP is also good of course but I haven't used any of mine in a while now.
Will be interesting to see if(when really) the vita gets cracked and opened up to emulators. That has a decent bit of power behind it to really do a decent job.

I'm thinking of ordering both tbh!

Midi for sprites, minis for scenes from The Last Ninja etc..

Does anyone know how many pins are on the Large Mini Peg Boards?

No, that is not a contradiction! ;)

I need to figure out now which colours best suit the c64 color Palette.

Also if you want to order from the UK:

Well I'll be doing mostly SNES and Mega Drive stuff, big suprise there so I'd say midi will do me. Might get a few mini aswell and see how it goes

I'm using midi to make mine but I guess there isn't much detail in the design I picked
think I'd only use mini to make jewellery

The Xperia play's pretty great for emulation. The only problem is the rake of people who port gpl'd emulators then charges for them without releasing source. Still it's good to finally have fullspeed snes emulation on the go.

Feck emulation a Ds should be used for one thing only.... playing all the awesome games that are available for it!!

If I could just weigh in on the smart phone issue...

I've being using a HTC for the best part of a year now and have found it to be generally fine with moments of extreme frustration thrown in. a touch screen with a mind of it's own, a 6 hour battery life if the wifi is on or you make a call longer than 90 seconds and a baffling contact system.

I am aware that most of these things can be altered or changed thanks to the open nature of Android but frankly I don't want to have to do that sort of thing, for the price of a smart phone it should all work properly out of the box.

I know iOS is far from perfect, and yes syncing with iTunes can be a real pain but I find it to be much more intuitive and efficient, although that could be because I've been a mac user for a good while so I'm just tuned into apple's systems.

Feckin smartphones, its the one aspect of modern tech I've no interest in. Just give me something that makes calls & texts & I don't have to recharge four times a day & I'm happy.

Alright grandad! Have a Werther! :D

Here now wait just a sec! If you want me to make it 100% xenophobic ally accurate:

*Danny Dyer voice* as seen on Danny Dyers Dangerous Britain:

"Nah! See this geezer 'ere? The old bloke wiv the gear? Yeah, RIGHT F**KIN' 'ARD NUT!

Affter the ad woz finished, him n that kid had a right barney over the last toffee! Kid smashed grandad's head RIGHT IN mate! Shoulda seen it. Knuckledusters out in the car park n everyfink!

Grandad done one and called old bill, but they did nuffink!

Grandad was solid though yeah. 6 munfs. Coma. Kid was like, tellin his mates an that "yeah, smashed him right up! PROPER!

Grandad rocks up to the kid at school and in front of his mates sez, "I've already got my revenge on you". Kid is frontin in front of his mates and is like "yeah yeah, what did you do? You ain't done nuffink!".

Grandad is like "yeah I did, I shagged your Mum!".

Grandad walks off, catches a cab in to town and has it large, knockin back shots and beers like a loon. Right 'ard nut!"
