You should contact the guy who started this thread and gather as much info as possible although Im sure its a different seller at this stage.

Orlando did contact me and as hard as it is to believe but it is still that sold him the car! They didn't even pass it off to the trade for it to pop up somewhere else!

I have sent him on my emails and photos so he can prove that they intentionally sold on a dangerous vehicle and hopefully he can get a refund.

But I think at this stage the Gardai should be able to take action against the Garage? Surely now they would have enough proof that they are intentionally endangering the lives of people who buy cars from them, never mind other road users that could be involved in an accident!

Also, anyone know any journalists that might like to do a story on it?

I'd be careful what type from here on in as it's a public forum and this may end up going legal

    Just friendly advice

Get all your evidence together and demand your money back or you'll report them. Report them anyway when you get your money back. Cowboys. That car is a wreck.

Jesus has this car not been crushed yet....those dealers are criminally negligent and to be avoided at all costs.

Well spotted subway! I've been keep an eye for it to resurface!

Hilarious description! "Little play in the diff" MY ARSE!!!!
The diff is the only thing holding the back on to the rest of the car!!!! :-)

Delighted that Orlando got his refund though!

I've emailed donedeal with a brief history of the car gleaned from this thread - I told them the concerns were raised on a "well-known" website. The idea of sticking your man's phone no in here is a good one.

Is there any point in reporting this to the Gardai again? Can he be arrested for trying to sell this car multiple times despite it being a deathtrap?

I'm tempted to call him and mess him around a bit. Not physically, just to waste his time for trying to sell something that might potentially cause serious injury to someone.

DoneDeal by rote response: "Hi mathepac Thank you for contacting us. If you feel that this ad is dishonest or false advertising, please report it to the Gardai as they are the correct authorities to investigate this matter. You can find their contact details here: http://www.crimecouncil.gov.ie/crimestoppers.html#Crimestoppers or through the Garda Station Directory http://www.garda.ie/stations/ We will of course assist the Gardai in any way possible with their investigation and provide them with all information that we have on this seller and take whatever action they recommend to us. Please let me know if you have any other questions. All the best, Orla Web: www.donedeal.ie Blog: http://blog.donedeal.ie/ facebook: www.facebook.com/DoneDealIreland" completely ignoring my point about the removal of previous ad(s) for the car

No answer, tried a few times. We might be a bit late to the "call him up to piss him off party". Too bad, was looking forward to asking him if he was aware of a garage of a certain name.

Ah Sergei, you learn use laptop-amabob? When you emigrating? Remember, research the market.com for bank loan, boards.ie for car assessment posts - simplez. We sing emigrate song Sergei "Home, home on the Grange, where the deer and the meerkats do roam, Where seldom is heard an honest sales word, And the cars they lie broken all day".

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,131 ✭✭✭subway

    Sold! :(

I'd keep an eye out for it, not too sure it's been sold or if the seller is aware we're now keeping tabs on this car and just wants us to think it's been sold.

I was on the phone to the selller after sending him an angry txt and he was adamant he bought it weeks ago from merlin auctions :rolleyes:

And that he would relist the add (After being marked sold) with the proven subframe repair by frank keans. So beware of fake documentations.

    Serious cowboy

If he had any brains he'd make the same money by breaking it for parts

I just hope some unsuspecting gob****e has not bought it. That car is a real danger by the looks of it.

    That's just scarey

How can they put that car back on the roads is beyond me.

Can't even think what will happen if someone has an accident with that car...

    Hilarious!!

In addition to the subframe issues (6k+ sterling for repair and that was before it got as bad as it is now!), when I bought the car there was:

Top and bottom end oil leaks (unknown cost but rebuild was quoted at 4.5K by specialist!!)
Vanos failing (was estimated 4K for replacement parts only)
2 Gearbox leaks (1.5K rebuild approx)
SMG pump failing (1200 parts only)
    Burst diff (1275 parts only)
    both driver shafts need replacing
Split rubber donut (not sure what its properly called!)
broken spring passenger rear (136 euro each - both have to be replaced)
blown ballast and ignitor on passenger headlight (685 euro)
    malfunctioning drivers seat
dangerous rear lights - serious fire hazard
    rusted exhaust joiners
    back box needs replacing

    and the list goes on!

on the 3 occasions that I brought the car back they told me that Frank Keane BMW had completed work and when I asked to see the receipts they went mad!
