I missed that little gem in the Mega-Tesco in Wexford but got Muc Off Dry Lube for €1.50

    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/muc-off-dry-lube-50ml/?lang=en

You have to buy enough stuff to cover delivery which is 25 pounds. Delivery to Ireland is 15 pounds. It might still work out well but it might be cheaper to just buy gels elsewhere.

Went into Tesco Extra in Wexford town and scored one of those HD cameras. Had to return to get one for €20.

They are hard to find as helpful assistant was unable but I luckily spotted them on the clearance stand near the entrance.

    One left there!

You'd still have to spend 25 quid on stuff for free uk delivery plus parcel motel fees. It mightn't work out as a saving but may for some.

I was looking at some bib shorts on planetX uk, they were on sale and well reviewed. Had a credit note to use, but needed to phone them to have it applied to the order. Ended up getting the shorts even cheaper than sale price and cheaper shipping than if I'd ordered online. Worth the call!

it's only €30 more what I spent on new bibs yesterday and was considering these bibs for a sec but they don't match the colour scheme of my bike so had to give them a miss

similar pricing to castelli and assos/other premium brands for bibs.

expensive compared to lidl specials, or dhb/other cheaper ranges

most of my shorts are DHB by the way, before i'm accused of being snobbish. but i have a par of castelli and the expensive shorts are worth every penny. depends on where you are coming from

Got a mail from them saying they've reduced the min spend for free delivery in relation to this to £10

The one consideration that a lot of people forget with both Assos and particularly with Rapha is that they have a free repair service.

I have had both a jersey and a pair of winter gloves replaced after damage (free of charge). Excellent returns policy too.

I know they tend to be expensive, but a lot of the better quality stuff is-Castelli, Assos, Giordana, Hincapie etc are all in the same ball park.

Rapha tend to have very good sales events (see their Facebook) and as has been mentioned here before, both Castelli (Castelli cafe) and Assos both have clearance sites online.

They're tubes....what makes them not great? And how do you define a great tube?

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 23,265 Mod ✭✭✭✭godtabh

Cheap ones lose air quickly. Frequency of punctures.

    http://www.castellicafe.co.uk/castelli-alpha-jacket-winter-2014-1?var=5788

If it fits in the sizes they have that is a proper bargain. Got jacket in sale on another site in March, fantastic jacket for winter.

Summer is only time to buy winter kit...:)

Fair enough. I wouldn't be at all particular about what tubes I'd go for as I'm fairly insensitive to changes like that so was genuinely interested.

Yeah I'd to use Parcel Motel.
Very fast shipping in fairness to them.

    I meant the gear itself?

I have the Gaba and well impressed by it. Wouldn't mind its winter equivalent.
