Can I remind people to include details of what they have photographed? :)

I saw some photos on IRN of 2817/2818, courtesy of finnyus: http://www.flickr.com/photos/finnyus/7473247858/in/photostream/

It has been repainted in the ICR style livery and had the gangways removed like with the 2700s. Doesn't look too shabby at all though. Certainly looks better than the 2700s did without gangways.

Youghal station at the turn of the 19th/20th century. I used to have a copy of this pic in my own collection but it became too depressing so I eBayed it.

That picture seems to show three platforms at the station instead of the two that i was aware of.

There were two bays behind the signal cabin but the outer one disappeared many years ago.

    Nice photos.

One there of 143: http://www.flickr.com/photos/holycorner/6772507911/ I know it was restricted in its later years, as can be seen here. I believe it was due to a bent frame resulting from an accident but can't remember for sure.

Also one from Abbeydorney on the North Kerry. Always like seeing photos on this line. :Dhttp://www.flickr.com/photos/holycorner/6749917201/

I bought the damn signal cabin at Abbeydorney many years ago but when we went to remove it we found that the former station master - who had bought the house - thought he owned it. We parted amicably but left the cabin behind! :D

I still think the line should never have been abandoned but I would say that, wouldn't I? :pac:

After the DART upgrade it did. Was generally just used as a pilot loco at that time.

just randomly looking through this came across this one:
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/holycorner/6755203823/in/set-72157628999720825

Where is that north of Bray with that much track work space and why is it on the wrong line (or is it)?

Just north of the level crossing at the station, where there used to be a loading bank and two sidings on the up side, and another on the down. The train stabled in the background is one of the engineering trains involved in the DART works at that time. The train is running wrong road either to serve the up platform, or that there is work on the down side of the station.

Found this on the Great Southern Trail website - B106 on the 1977 weedsprayer between Listowel and Lixnaw on the North Kerry. I've been at this location several times. Higher res version here.

Great pic of the North Kerry weedsprayer - even before my time - and I never remember the old spray train. The old sprayer unit (just in front of the container in the photograph) had a steam engine type cab and lay for some years in the 1980s at Ballybrophy before being scrapped. Poor old Sulzer 106 was the last of its class to be operational and hauled an IRRS Sulzer Farewell tour in the Dublin area in 1978 (?). It lingered on at Inchicore, in the Sound Barrier, until 1986 when it was scrapped at the North Wall in December 1986. I seem to remember that several of the Sulzers still contained a lot of fuel when cutting started which caused some 'problems'.

January 1989 - somewhere near Lixnaw - and a Wabco Westinghouse van cautiously picks its way across a couple of underbridges during a materials recovery operation for the Great Southern Railway Preservation Society. A certain man from Cork is in the foreground. :D

Saturday 4th of February 1978 departing Connolly at 14.15 to either Dalkey or Bray stopping at all stations en route and then non stop to arrive in Connolly at 17.00
Price 1.20 but 0.70p for children under 16. Sorry for being a bit vague JD.

so none of these survive? if so they can't fire up?

why o why in their right mind would they cut up something that still had fuel in it? were they wanting an explosion?

ticking a box on a form does not make you of a religion.

103 was saved by the Irish Traction Group and is stored at their Carrick-on-Suir depot but given that it was stopped 35 years ago.....

I doubt she'll ever turn a wheel in anger again at this stage, given all the other locos ITG has plans for

The ITG already got the bum's rush out of Inchicore, an eviction notice for Carrick can't be far off.

Hope not, but if that happens, I'll give G601 a home here..and it wont need a tin shed!

I'd hate to see this but I agree, it doesn't look good. Their connection to the mainline is due to be severed apparently.
