Ok this is probably a silly question, but does the jailbreak also unlock the phone?

    Untethered = Yes

Unlock = No (afaik you need to have preserved your baseband from a previous unlock as I don't think the newer basebands in recent firmwares have been unlockable)

This was the easiest jailbreak ever. As far as I saw it just downloaded the cydia icon. For awhile I though it couldn't be jailbroken but it is :)

Hmm on my friends iPhone it seems to load a different page (no slide to jailbreak) with links to paid jailbreak sites, any ideas?

    To clarify:
    1. Back up
    2. Restore as new device
    3. JB
    4. Sync

    Heres a quick question.

Just got an Iphone 4 yesterday--its on 4.3.3 on meteor.Have to say Im impressed with how smooth the interface is compared to android--it just seems more polished.

Always liked my androids and have enough experience flashing roms etc so Im sure I can manage this jailbreaking lark (if I can get my head around that piece of crap that is Itunes) but Im looking to find out if jailbreaking voids warranty?

Also what advantages do I have if I jailbreak?Iphone newb here so go easy on me.....

Looking for a way of sending files via bluetooth, facetime over 3g <<<<basically practical things that it looks like Apple forgot when they were programming the OS :):)

I believe that these things are possible if jailbroken.

    Any help appreciated.

When you have it Jailbroken, there is an app in the Cydia Store called PwnTunes. It's e10 but it is a brilliant app. Basically when you connect your iPhone to your PC/Mac you can double click on your iPhone icon and you have folders named Music, Documents, Photos, etc. All you need to do is drag your files into the corresponding folders. When you disconnect your phone then, the app will sync all your stuff. No need for iTunes at all if you want.

No. I had a friend last week who called with his Jailbroken 3GS. The antenna wasn't working. I just restored the phone to original firmware and he got a replacement iPhone no problem.
what advantages do I have if I jailbreak

Someone might explain this better, but the only advantages I find is little things like SBSettings(toggles) where you can swipe the top of the screen and a list comes down with wifi, 3g, brightness, etc. Just a quicker way of selecting without going into settings (like power widget in android)

Also you can select different themes. I didn't like this because I found it made my ipod touch a little sluggish but not sure does it make any difference on the iphone 4.

Don't know anything about the bluetooth features so someone may explain this. Enjoy your iPhone 4 you lucky bast$rd ;):D

Celeste Bluetooth file transfer is available but it's a little pricey. Pwntunes is one of the best investments.
The tweaks in cydia are the main reason I jailbroke. There's a number of threads in the beat jailbreak tweaks but some of my favourites are:
    sbsettings
    Gridlock
    Folderenhancer
    Phone closer
    Screen dimmer
    safari download manager
    Springtomize
    Photoalbumsplus
    Unlimtones
    Ifile
    Itransmission
    Multifl0w
And of course ultrasn0w for my unlock.

I use Action Menu also (cut, copy, paste, etc) for selecting texts and Five Dock Icon is also good if you want 5 icons on your dock rather than 4

5L rows is pretty cool too,5 icons across on stead of 4.
Barrel is also a really nice mod, makes icons spin and all sorts when changing pages on the springboard.

Im having a problem with my multitasking options in my dock though.
Double tapping the home button isnt showing what apps are open when im om the homescrern but if im in an app and double tap to show whats open it does display whats open...weird & annoying...any ideas?

Just a heads up, don't use this jailbreak if you use Bitesms, use redsn0w instead, nightmare...
