I've done a search and don't see any threads on this.

    Race website
Course profile NB. the route has changed slightly this year, taking a different road in the park, but the elevation profile is the same
    Last year's thread

It's 18 weeks from yesterday (Monday 27th June) to the Dublin Marathon. I've been concentrating on upping my mileage in the Vibrams over the past few months, I think my feet are getting used to running with little or no cushioning at this stage - so I'm going to kick off a marathon training plan hopefully this week or maybe next week.

I'm still undecided if I'll do one of Hal Higdon's plans, look for others online, or just come up with my own.

My main goal is to beat last year's time of 4hr 9mins.... but I'm also hoping my legs and feet will hold up to running in Vibrams.

What are others here hopes & dreams for DCM this year?

Anyone planning on doing it in fancy dress as it's on Halloween this year?!?!

There are three threads in the Training Logs area discussing training for Dublin marathon, or autumn marathons in general
    Novices (mentored thread)
    'Improvers' thread
    'Seasoned' runners thread

Questions/comments about the race itself should be posted here. Discussions of training plans should go in the training logs.

There will be pace groups running in the marathon, lead by the following runners (most of them from A/R/T)

3:00 (Having previously ran sub 2:48)
    TheRoadRunner
    1 more confirmed

3:15 (Having previously ran sub 2:56)
    Krusty Clown
    Village Runner
    LeCheile

3:30 (Having previously ran sub 3:06)
    liamo123
    TFBubendorfer
    SureWhyNot
    Grellan

3:45 (Having previously ran sub 3:19)
    Corkrunning
    Brianderunner
    Macanri
    shotgunMCOS

4:00 (Having previously ran sub 3:30)
    Oisin11718
    ChristyB
    Menoscemo
    Jackyback

4:15 (Having previously ran sub 3:45)
    RunningCoach
    KandiKane
    sbp100

4:30 (Having previously run sub 4:00)
    WallyRuns
    Izoard
    Ultraman
    ger664

5:00 (having previously ran sub 4:15)
    clareman07
    John O'L
    jonny99

(the 'having previously ran' is their qualification for being a pacer. clareman07 has run at least one recent marathon faster than 4.15, so the organisers are confident in his ability to run a steady 5.00 pace)

Cheers for that Ray, and adding the links to my OP - I never looked in ther Training Logs sub forum, although now it's blatantly obvious I should have checked in there first! :o

No problem. I'm sure there'll be a bunch of people in fancy dress this year - last year there was a leprechaun and a tiger, as well as a guy running backwards and someone else juggling their way around.

I spotted the guy running backwards, he overtook me at one point!

Irish Runner magazine has a schedule for DCM starting next monday with different plans for different times. Starting my training on monday following the 4.45-5.30 plan hope it goes well would love to manage a sub 5 hour marathon.............

diddleyland you won't go too far wrong with that program, but the starting should be the 11th and not the 4th.

Well my first and only marathon to date was DCM 2010, and I finished in 4hr 9mins.... so I want to beat that.

    I'm gonna go with 3:45...

What time are you looking at tunguska, I heard you're training with a fairly good guy (70 min half) so you must be looking at taking a big chunk off.

Im going to be a bit of a bowsey here and not call a time until 3 weeks before the marathon. Yeah I'm training with Phil from sportsworld who is a great athlete, absolute gentleman aswell. Hoping to take a big chunk off last year though.

I am pretty sure I will win the prize for calling my time. I can get these things very accurate if needed. Just ask Brianderunner :P

I used to work with him about 10 years ago and he was only jogging twice a week and hadn't raced since school so I brought him out to run the cityswift 10 miler. I was running 5 days a week at the time and came in in 69, I waited at the line for Phil and then my uncle came in in 80 plus and I thought there's no way he's slower than my uncle, I turned around and there's Phil walking towards me he was finished and had changed clothes already. We quickly got him in a club :D

This years Berlin marathon (my third) is my 'A' goal race where I hope to break 3:30, but I'm also hoping to repeat the performance in Dublin injuries and recovery allowing.

Proper training for this started for me yesterday. Am really looking forward to it now as I missed it last year with a calf injury. Had originally planned to go under 3.20 last year until the injury but managed to to 3.13 in the Kildare marathon in May so all guns blazing for 3.10 this year. :D
