Difference is, mine needed to be taken in darkness to see the change, yours... er :pac:

Yours is diesel so it should just be kept in the dark and never let out.......

Just realised, out of the last 5 cars we've had in our house, they were all built in the UK

Got some led bulbs for the number plate lights on the civic, also replaced one of the headlight bulbs. Really easy access thank god. Gave the bonnet a polish and compound, looks like the car will shine up pretty easily.

Today I swapped out the broken shock absorber & coil on my '93 corolla... to a newer, less broken one. It's an improvement but hardly ideal. Will have to find another one, bah.

Gave the civic a bit of a spruce up today.

Deterred the sides with Wurth tar remover. Not bad stuff
    Claybar
    Compound
    Polish
Put shiney stuff on the wheelarches
Gave the dash a quick wipe.

Took some pics on my iPad, unfortunately they didn't come out too well.

    Back to the 406 :P

Annoying blow in exhaust was annoying
    Image2378.jpg

It's not great, I'm not happy with it but for now that's problem solved
    Image2379.jpg

Adjusting a very high idle! :o
    Image2380.jpg

When all that was done, time to give it a bit of a clean. Starting with that awful glue
    Image2381.jpg

    Then the whole car
    Image2382.jpg

Followed by the windscreen and windows. Thinners stank out the inside of he car so out with the odour eliminator too
    Image2385.jpg
    Image2386.jpg
    Image2387.jpg

Changed the desperate sidelights too. One had gone silver!
    Image2388.jpg

And just for shíts and giggles :D
    Image2383.jpg

    Image2384.jpg

    A day well spent :)

Sold the avensis to a mate of mine. Delighted, didn't have to advertise, didn't need to service it. He can get his own hands dirty!

Four back-breaking hours installing heated seats in the back and made a balls of the holes for the power switches, ruining a small piece of wood trim, a nice €35 mistake.

Didn't even get to wire up the power cables and relay, sometimes you just have to walk away and come back another day!

    Some pics when its done.

I have to say your's is probably the best and most sorted E38 out there at this stage. Love it!

    Another small update ...

I got the car back after leaving it down with CleanCar for the week whilst I was driving the GT86. He worked his usual witchcraft on it in preparation for the winter including a coat of Poorboy's World Blackhole Glaze, two coats of Collinite 476 Double Wax and another two coats of Britemax Vantage Carnauba Wax.

    PMcG-320D-4.jpg

I painted the fog lights yellow sometime ago but removed it pretty much straight away as A) the LED fog light bulbs weren't bright enough to shine through and B) I didn't like the yellow lenses when the lights were off. I ordered some 55W 2500K HB4 Halogen bulbs from the US which are blindingly bright. I'm not one to drive with my fogs on when it's not foggy so this was a functional upgrade more so than anything.

    PMcG320D-3.jpg

Before I collected the GT86, I ordered up some BMW Performance parts including the handbrake with alcantara boot ...

    PMcG320D-2.jpg

... and the weighted short shift knob with alcantara gaiter.

    PMcG320D-1.jpg

A better shot of the carbon steering wheel surround I fitted last month. That's the interior done save for maybe a Dynavin unit in the future.

I've finally got my order into KW today for some INOX V1 coilovers and hopefully ordering new wheels later today. At this point I usually say that's it, it's done etc. but I'm not even kidding myself anymore ...

Here's the balls up I did last night:

Any idea how you'd drill a 3/8" hole cleanly through this piece? Its lacquered real wood, glued to a metal underside.

The chip on the left is where I threw it against a wall. :P

Drill in a stand with a handle, that you pull down to drill whatever piece you're trying to drill. Like the stuff Lidl were selling at some point. Holesaw-drillbit in the drill.

And the piece then clamped in underneath.

So that neither drill nor the piece you're drilling can slip away.

Was thinking the same about the stand, but not sure about a holesaw, the teeth are extremely coarse.

    What about a stepdown bit?
