I had said last night that the Dean ryan cup was a huge huge win for cork hurling, and today reading the Sun today confirmed that.
Shane dowling was interviewed ahead of today Munster club final ,and mostly in that interview he spoke of the Dean ryan cup win over clare castle with ardscoil in 2008, then the belief and buzz he got from that and that win really got the ball rolling and that ard scoil were able to win two harty cups in 10 and 11.
Hes last three years at schools were winning, winning,he said.He said that he helped him develop greatly as a player.

That win for midelton can have the same effect over the next few years, and like na piarsaigh today second win in munster where a lot came from ard scoil ,midelton cbs can have a huge postive on the senior club, but also fr o neills in particular where their producing top players at underage.Their a club I expect to make real progress in east cork the next few years.

Also l said Ard scoil were a proffessional set up.Dowling confirmed that ,he said since Moran came in they have been well looked after. He said at harty level,if they drew a match, they were straight in to the swimming pool for recovery sessions.
Moran has brought the same preparation at dean ryan level.

Their set up with yesterdays dean ryan cup team was the same for this campaign, the training, post training meal ,and then they were brought away for tactial anayalis.
The will is in limerick hurling, but its matched by money invested in schools.Their well and rightly so looked after properly.

Mideltons win yesterday was truly remarkable when you consider who they beat ,a school where hurling is clearly the number one priority and the rescources and proffessionalism they have.

Kiltane, clyda rovers next opponents sound a serious, serious team, favourites to win the title, mayo lads said On their thread.

That u21 game showed There really is top talent in the country.

Lehane has got 3-20 in both county finals in three weeks a certainy to win.,Cork club hurler of the year along with hurley in the football tonight.

Outside of him the two other best forwards yesterday was stephen murphy and bud hartnett,wo goals, last goal was better in that he created hes own space.
Always the talented as a cork minor, this year didnt step up in senior or u21 games to the level he can.

Yesterday he did.Credit due ,for that. The doubt was never hes talent, its hes conistency to do in big games is the question. He needs to be like alan cadogan who has been consistently excellent needs all year for douglas to be like that to be on the cork panel.

I feel sorry for cadogan up against cussen, lehane and harnedy tonight in the full forward line he is likely to loose out on the cork club team of the year.

Harnedy really could have been named at half forward.
All the talk today is of josh beausang,8 points from play in the dean ryan cup final,is pheomohal.
Some scoring for such a young player.

Seven haven and 8 midelton teams of the year.Harnedy lost out ,defies logic.

Five goals against imokilly and sarsfields, clearly injured for replay, yet no award.
Lehane got one in the half forward line so their was room for him.
    Cadogan got one,fully deserved.

Ruairi deane gets one at half forward in the football.Kieran mccarthy of the southern star was spot on hes tweet with deane, cork club team of the year yet cant make the cork training panel#headscatcher#

And its more a credit he won the award in a posisition not hes best .

MIDLETON CBS EXCEL IN DEAN RYAN TRIUMPH

    MONDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 2013
    Midleton CBS 1-14
    Ard Scoil Rís 2-10

AN epic Dean Ryan Cup final at Cashel last Saturday afternoon ended with Midleton CBS lifting the prestigious trophy for the first time since 1989.
This was hurling at its very best, one of the great college games of the modern era or any era for that matter with both teams producing a wonderful exhibition of everything that is good and great in the game and how right and fitting it was that the winning Midleton CBS point should be scored by the player who did more than anyone to bring the honours back to the school for the first time in nearly 25 years.

Josh Beausang from the Russell Rovers club was in sublime form all through in the Midleton CBS attack and his eight-point haul from play illustrated the huge contribution he made to this victory.
Right alongside him in the list of Midleton players who played a massive role in the destination of the old trophy was Brendan McCarthy from Carrigtwohill who ran himself to a near standstill in the middle of the field and he was a captain fantastic throughout.
John Looney from Aghada was another star, he had a terrific first-half, delivering 1-2 in a half that had Midleton CBS on the back foot for long periods

Defensively, Midleton CBS battened down the hatches when the stakes were at their highest in the second-half and no fault could be found with any one of them.
Seanaidh Smyth, Mike Mellerick and Daniel Harrington were just three who put their bodies on the line on numerous occasions as the East Cork team fought back from a deficit of eight points at one stage in the first-half.

It was tremendous stuff from start to finish, almost breathtaking at times such was the ferocity of the challenge from both teams.
Ard Scoil Rís were off the blocks very quickly, three points clear inside five minutes following good scores from Nathan Fox, Marcus McMenemy and the very conspicuous Conor Houlihan.
Midleton CBS took a while to get into the swing of things but they were level after 13 minutes following points from young Beausang, with a brace and Looney.

But Ard Scoil Rís were soon back in the driving seat, Houlihan with two more points and when Padraic O’Loughlin goaled for them in the 18th minute, the portents did not look good for Midleton CBS.
And things got a whole lot worse eight minutes later when the Limerick boys goaled again, this time Marcus McMenemy doing the damage.

Now eight points in arrears, Midleton CBS were in all sorts of difficulty but when the need was at its greatest just before half-time they hauled themselves back into contention with a vital goal from Looney and a big point from Padraigh O’Brien.
That reduced the gap to just four points going to the dressingrooms and for a Midleton team that had started without key attacker Garan Manley because of illness, that deficit was a lot more manageable than eight would have been.
Midleton CBS took up where they left off when the sides resumed and two points from Beausang and Looney had them right back in the equation.

However, they shot a few poor wides during that spell of dominance and a brace of points from Conor Fitzgerald and Houlihan had Ard Scoil Rís four in front again after 40 minutes.
But this Midleton CBS team exhibited their prowess in the closing 20 minutes and after the Ard Scoil keeper Sean Mullane had saved from Looney they fired over some sublime points.

Beausang, the inspirational Russell Rovers youngster, nailed one, Manley, after his introduction, fired one over as did the outstanding Brendan McCarthy.
Two more followed from Beausang and with six minutes remaining the Midleton CBS boys found themselves in front by a point.
The action was frenetic now, the battle was raging for the big prize on offer and when Houlihan pointed a long range free in the 59th minute to draw the match a replay seemed inevitable.

But it wasn’t over yet and up stepped Beausang to rifle over the last score of the match, the point that sealed the deal for an outstanding bunch of young Midleton CBS hurlers.
This victory will live long in the memory for all of them, courage and a never-say-die attitude the hallmarks on a momentous day for the old school, a day when hurling was by far and away the real winner.

    Scorers for Midleton CBS: J Beausang 0-8, J Looney 1-3, B McCarthy, P O’Brien, G Manley 0-1 each.
    Ard Scoil Rís: C Houlihan 0-6 (0-4, 0-1 65), M McMenemy 1-1, P O’Loughlin 1-0, C Fitzgerald 0-2, N Fox 0-1.
    MIDLETON CBS: E Moloney (Midleton); C Hegarty (Fr O’Neill’s), S Smyth (Midleton), M Mellerick (Fr O’Neill’s); E Leahy (Aghada), D Harrington (Fr O’Neill’s), S O’Connor (do); B McCarthy (Carrigtwohill, c), C Parker (Fr O’Neill’s); J McDonnell (Aghada), K Moynihan (Russell Rovers), K Treacy (Killeagh); P O’Brien (Midleton), J Beausang (Russell Rovers), J Looney (Aghada).
Sub: G Manley (Midleton) for O’Brien.

    ARD SCOIL RÍS: S Mullane; G Kearns, S Phelan, S Hogan; N Fox, O Bernard, M Danagher; J Flynn, D Cunningham; M Connolly, C Fitzgerald, P O’Loughlin; M McMenemy, C Houlihan, C Boylan.
    Referee: F McCormack (Tipperary).

MIDLETON dominated the 2013 Reardens’ SHC All-Stars at last night’s awards, picking up eight of the 15 awards.
Runners-up Sars received three berths, Michael Cussen, Eoin Quigley and Daniel Kearney; Cussen and Quigley were also picked last year.

It was difficult to argue with Midleton’s dominance, given how impressive they were all summer, though they needed Conor Lehane at his sharpest to get over the line against a quality Sars unit going for a fourth county in six years.

The Magpies grabbed four of the six positions at the back, as well as the keeper in Tommy Wallis. This was down to their collective defensive strength, and also some noteworthy individual displays across their five games.
Darren Mannix from Na Piarsaigh got the nod at corner-back, after hurling efficiently as the club got back to the semi-finals.
Conor Lehane was an automatic at 11, and there won’t be any argument with the choice of Paul Haughney and Kearney in midfield.
The attacking slots were hotly contested, with Darren McCarthy, Cork’s sub keeper, again securing a place up front.
He was one of just three hurlers to make back-to-back club All-Star teams, with Aidan Ryan (Midleton), the Glen’s Paul Virgo and Alan Cadogan (Douglas) getting their first awards in attack.

    1. Tommy Wallis (Midleton): A very capable netminder, this U21 — the son of former Cork physical trainer Jerry — was the model of consistency for the Magpies.
With a booming puck-out and an eye for long range frees, Wallis was a vital cog in his club’s county triumph.
    2. Killian Burke (Midleton): The Midleton rearguard was extremely miserly all summer, holding Bishopstown to 0-8 and Na Piarsaigh to 1-6, and this dynamic U21 played a key role.
Quick and wristy, a modern corner-back.

    3. Patrick O’Mahony (Midleton): County final man of the match at minor level back in 2010, this tall but skilful defender came of age this summer.
A member of Jimmy Barry-Murphy’s extended Cork panel already, he could be set to make his mark at the top.

    4. Darren Mannix (Na Piarsaigh): A survivor of Na Piarsaigh’s county win back in 2004, Mannix was his club’s best player as they returned to the last four for the first time since.
A no-nonsense and teak tough northsider, he epitomises the club’s spirit.
    5. Eoin Quigley (Sarsfields): County final man of the match in midfield last year, the Wexford senior hurler relocated to the half-back line this season.
Solid in the early stages, he was excellent in the second half of this year’s decider against Midleton, offering leadership when Sars were shipping water.

    6. Finbarr O’Mahony (Midleton): Like his cousin Patrick in the full-back berth, Finbarr showed why he was so highly regarded underage.
He has the touch to compliment his height and aggression and commanded the rearguard with authority.
    7. James Nagle (Midleton): It might seem like overkill to include four of the Midleton back six, but their county success was very much built from the back.
Nagle was involved with Cork under Denis Walsh, and his aerial prowess and drives from wing-back were certainly impressive in 2013.
    8. Paul Haughney (Midleton): Traditionally an inside forward — and scorer of 0-5 from play when Midleton won the 2011 U21 county — he blossomed after a switch to midfield.
Nimble, quick and excellent at first-time deliveries he was an automatic in this selection.
    9. Daniel Kearney (Sarsfields): Another essential pick, Kearney managed to excel for both Cork and his club in the same season, which doesn’t often happen.
He was particularly heroic in the county final, landing three monster points, and hoovering up breaks from the throw-in.

    10. Aidan Ryan (Midleton): The rest of the forwards in this All-Star selection were among the sharpest shooters from play in the county.
Ryan, a converted half-back and former Cork minor and U21, was however a ball-winner supreme for the Magpies. His power and paw proved critical to the club’s county triumph.

    11. Conor Lehane (Midleton): One of the greatest county final appearances of the modern era, to the tune of 2-10, made national headlines, but Lehane was rampant in every match.
His season haul was a staggering 5-48, and his general play was as breathtaking as his finishing.

    12. Darren McCarthy (Ballymartle): Despite being back-up to Anthony Nash, McCarthy continues to shine outfield in the SHC — whether at corner-forward, midfield, or half-forward. He contributed 6-19, all bar 1-3 from play, to Ballymartle’s second successive semi-final appearance. Is it time for JBM to try him at 12 for Cork?

    13. Alan Cadogan (Douglas): None of the county finalists’ corner-forwards were consistently deadly, but dual Cork U21 Cadogan was unmarkable at times for Douglas.
He took Ballymartle for 1-5 and Newtown for 0-6, and — after some fine tallies on the football field too — showed why he could emulate his older brother Eoin and play at the highest level.
    14. Michael Cussen (Sarsfields): A total of 3-12 from play made the giant Sars man the obvious choice for full-forward in the team of the year, and he set up even more than that, using his size and awareness.
While he’s never got a run at 14 with Cork, Cussen has been a match-winner time and again for his club since their first county in 2008.
    15. Paul Virgo (Glen Rovers): When the chips were down for the Glen last summer, one man came up trumps.
Paul Virgo is not a marquee player, yet he plundered 3-7 from play in just three games and was the chief reason Rovers reached the county quarter-finals.

    TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 2013

FOUR of the 2012 Reardens’ Football Team of the Year retained their awards at the club All-Stars last night.
Castlehaven’s David Limrick, Damien Cahalane and Brian Hurley, along with Nemo’s corner-back Alan Cronin, were again recognised for their excellence in the club championship.

The Haven were rewarded for holding on to the Andy Scannell Cup with seven players in the SFC selection, including three Hurleys — goalkeeper Paudie, and two of four brothers in the forwards, Stephen and Brian.

Bishopstown received three gongs, the same amount as Nemo, who defeated them, but it was hard to look back past the individual displays of Conor Dorman, Daniel O’Donovan and Sam Oakes, who plundered seven goals.

St Vincent’s corner-back Wayne Murphy made the defence, while Carbery’s Ruairí Deane was their sole representative, though Declan Barron up front and Brian O’Driscoll on the wing were fierce unlucky just to miss out.

Interestingly, midfield pairing O’Donovan and Seán Dineen are both former Kilmacabea players.
O’Donovan, a garda in the city, moved to Bishopstown three years ago, while Dineen switched to the Haven from Leap when he was 16.

Nemo veteran James Masters was among the winners, but just three of the 2013 Cork panel made the cut — last year’s player of the year Damien Cahalane, Brian Hurley and Paul Kerrigan.

    1. Paudie Hurley (Castlehaven): His is one of the greatest stories of club GAA in recent years.
Not only did Paudie have to reinvent himself as a former corner-forward, he also had to overcome serious illness to stand between the posts in three successive county finals.
    Consistency personified.

    2. Alan Cronin (Nemo Rangers): Just like last season, this Cork U21 graduate was used in a variety of positions but did his best work in the full-back line.
With superb anticipation and sharp reflexes, he was the most dependable of the Nemo rearguard and it’s no surprise to see him called up to the Cork panel.
    3. David Limrick (Castlehaven): A Reardens All-Star for the second year running, Limrick had to overcome career-threatening injury to pull on the Haven jersey again.

It’s no coincidence though, that their re-emergence as a football force was only when their defensive lynchpin was fully fit. Another model of consistency.

    4. Wayne Murphy (St Vincent’s): Northsiders St Vincent’s were the surprise package of this summer’s SFC and their veteran corner-back Murphy was rock solid as they reached the quarter-finals.
That was hardly a shock though, as he’s long established himself as one of the best, and most traditional, number fours on Leeside.

    5. Conor Dorman (Bishopstown): Another newcomer to be called up to the Cork senior squad on the back of his form for club and the county U21s, Dorman was an all-action wing-back for Bishopstown.
Powerful defensively, he still found time to raid forward to blast two goals.

    6. Roland Whelton (Castlehaven): Originally used as a ball-winning half-forward, Roland Whelton’s switch to the half-back line turned out to be a shrewd move by the Haven management.
Tough, hugely committed and tidy in his distribution, he was an unsung hero for the Haven this year.

    7. Damien Cahalane (Castlehaven): Despite the demands of hurling duty with the Barrs and his first season with the Cork seniors, as well as ongoing hip problems, Cahalane was a real leader for his club.
When the chips were down he regularly inspired the Haven.

    8. Seán Dineen (Castlehaven): When the first round against Nemo came around, Dineen was on duty milking cows on his farm, yet by the final he was the club’s go-to guy in midfield.
Dineen’s return to blue and white was essential to Castlehaven’s title defence, through his fielding and selfless hard-running.

    9. Daniel O’Donovan (Bishopstown): Another excellent fielder, this west Cork native is also a deadly free-taker from all angles and distances.
He scored 19 points for Bishopstown as they made the county semi-final, and was at the heart of their most impressive displays.

    10. Stephen Hurley (Castlehaven): His younger brother might be better known, but Stephen Hurley has been delivering the goods for Castlehaven time and again in recent years.
This season he was their creator in chief on the 40 with Mark Collins often covering midfield, and came up with 0-7 from play and some killer assists.
    11. Paul Kerrigan (Nemo Rangers): Though Nemo’s form was erratic at times this summer, that they reached the county final and won the league was in no small part down to the Cork flyer.
He fired 1-20 (all but 0-7 from frees), including a goal of the season contender in the first round. Expect a huge 2014 with the Rebels.
    12. Ruairi Deane (Carbery): The All-Ireland winning Cork junior captain, Carbery were able to monopolise possession in the middle third thanks to his contribution.
A scoring threat too, he chipped in with 2-5 as they made the semi-final for the first time in four years.

    13. James Masters (Nemo Rangers): Though not the unstoppable force of the mid noughties, Masters remains a sweet shooter.
Tellingly he kicked some of his best scores in the three meetings with Castlehaven, including four gems in the county final.

    14. Brian Hurley (Castlehaven): What a year for Hurley, who shone for his club, the Cork U21s and in his first run at senior level.
Powerful, dangerous off both feet and with an eye for goal, the sky’s the limit for the prodigious 21-year-old Carlow IT student.

    15. Sam Oakes (Bishopstown): That Bishopstown made the last four was in no small part due to their ability to raise green flags.
Sam Oakes and Denis Crowley were particularly devastating when fed with direct ball, with Oakes’ haul of 7-4 edging Crowley’s 5-3 for the final slot in the team of the year.

Eh,Flannans have a great tradition in Corn ui Mhuiri, have won 3 titles and lost a final as recently as 2006...

Of the 3 Cork schools that qualified, Chriost Ri were beaten by 19 points by Colaiste na Sceilige and Fachtnas only qualified due to Brendans beating Rochestown by more than 12 points today. Realistically only Macroom have any hope of winning the competition and they were in what looks to have been the weakest group. I think you're deluding yourself to think Cork schools are strong in football..look at some of the scorelines this year and it tells a different tale. Chriost Ri in particular have gone backwards..don't know what has happened there.

Midelton and hamilton tonight, cork senior colleges final at Cit.

Should be a cracker, hamilton in a harty cup quater final ,midelton ,could be,if blackwater beat rocestown, wednesday.
Their bound to take this game seriously as this could be their last game of the year.
Midelton are going for 3 in a row, four in five years, beat st colmans, and Patrican academy mallow to win it.They have won at under 14,6 rice cup,u16 cork schools ,and last week the munster club. They at worst are contesting finals.

Hamilton have done amazingly, against the odds to get the quater final of the harty cup, only just back in it over ten years out of it.
Nothing against midelton but it would be great for hamilton and cahalane in particular to win some silverware.Great for cork ,to see new schools coming to the fore.

Midelton are meant to be getting another secondary school by 2016, it just shows what a thriving population they have, and they have a strong catchment aera to pick from.Thats more good news for them.

Midelton beaten by rochestown last week, but thats a fine rochestown team, who by all accounts, only pulled away when mark dolan goaled.

Dara sweeney ,against billy dunne or eoghan kinery, mark o keoffe against michael cahalane, and ian cahill, cloyne(a huge prospect, maybee the next rock) against dual cork minor this year trevor horgan.

Seandaid smith a winner of the dean ryan cup, and having been superb at centre back in the dean ryan final, and also held jake prendergast to a point in the semifinal, will have eoghan o reilly who has blistering Pace to
    deal with,from corner back.

Brendan maccarthy also a dean ryan winner may start, and could face ,david healy or jerry o neill.

Murt kenneally and chris o leary at half back, have Dan landers who got three points of sthephen bennett ,in the hartyg.and john looney (1-3) in the dean cup final, and a vital goal also in the dean ryan cup semifinal to contend with if he starts.
Maybee man of the match in the dean ryan cup final, josh beausang come on or Aran stafford. They may try a few players for next year.

This could be a thriller ,in what has been a great week with a thrilling u21 final and dean ryan cup, this game could show the talent in cork underage hurling again. To see michael cahalane is exciting alone,a tremendous prospect, but throw in a whole list of other players and tonight is mouthwatering. He is doubtful ,from what I hear,i hope he is fit to play.

Eoghan kinery, billy dunne, seanaid smith, dan landers, macarthy among others were on the panel that all won it last year.

Mallow or clonakilty is getting no league games this year, and unlikely to get mcgrath cup games.
Eammon o shea,in the hurling last year, played a lot oftgames in differents parts of the county to generate support.
It would have been a good idea for the footballers,to follow on from training in kilmaceba last week .
Thats a good idea with the football, credit due people have a chance to see them train.

Aiskeake and setanta are both playing aussie rules ,in a lower divison with the same club next year.

The u21 footballers are training this weekend. The hurlers ,i haven't heard anything.

Tippeary are having their first get together tonight,in the u21,with Tj connolly.I was talking to a tippeary player, and he is meant to be good.
They were shocked maher went to Waterford, would have had a big role to play.A fantastic, young manager.

Willie Maher ruffled far too many feathers everywhere, he annoyed the clubs by constantly arranging sessions and challenges clashing with high profile club fixtures, he annoyed the CB with his excessive spending and alot of players didn't appreciate his abrupt manner and his many attempts to force dual players to pick one code or the other, he only eventually let this go when Colin Riordan made it perfectly clear if he was forced to choose, it would be football.

William maher , is a super young coach, and a winner, all ireland minor winning manager. From people who actually know what they talk about, all I heard is praise for hes management and a huge loss to them and a great gain to waterford. And I was talking to a player that played under him.He was a winner.
People dont like davy ,but hes a winner. He doesnt have to act like the parish priest .

Dont make me laugh, tippeary are worried about overspending, when young teams need investment and he is right to invest in the minors ,they bring Mcgeeney in,as a performance advisor or sports physcologist.
Whatever you think you know,he wont come cheap.A touch of irony ,if ever I heard it.
I saw in the paper today and cost of the kildare football team was just crazy, and he won nothing. With the u21 team, flattered to decieve.

Kildare gaa spent 1.3 million, and a large part went to the senior team.Dublin were dead right ,when they told them, not to be giving out by their sponsorship deal, and while they got huge investment ,they manage their money well.
Thats the bottom line, and credit dublin, they spend it well and have success at all levels to prove this.
I dont feel much sympathy for kildare county board, the fans I do feel for,as the County board were the ones ,them no one else, spent huge money on kildare ,and mcgeeney ,over seven years,no one else.Their responsible for that.

Huge costs and nothing to show for.Micko,i imagine, may be wrong, did not cost the same, and at least they had success ,and won a leinster and got to an ireland final.

If ye want winners, and as much you criticised Caroline Currid costs, she was worth every penney,as she proved with dublin and tyrone.

Why not try get alan quinlan, niall quinn, denis leamy etc just ideals, all links to tippeary hurling ,and their all winners. And I dont understand why o shea cant do that role himself.Thats meant to be one of hes strenghts, and I have heard him talk,he is an excellent communicator and is big in to sports physcology, such that he is going to be in thurles, doing a talk in thurles with others ,on the link with spirtituality and sport .They added a cost to the set up they dont need.It wouldnt matter if the investment was worth it.

Mcgeeney ,brings nothing to the dynamic.Gary ryan,is a splendid addition.Eddie enright,i dont what happened, but he is highely regarded of in UCC.
A strange move, bringing him to tippeary.

Maher is dead right about this nonsense young lads notions about being a dual player. Cork have gone down this route of allowing every young fellow go the dual route and underage hurling results have fallen off a cliff as a result. Great news for the footballers but a huge price to be paid on the hurling side of things.

Hamiton, cork senior u18 seniorA champions.Im delighted for them.
    They beat Midelton,what a win.
In fairness to the east cork men, their extremely gracious, they didnt begrudge hamilton at all,a lot of their supporters realise where they came from, and Michael cahalane, every team in cork dream of players like him.
Midelton have conor lehane, and a few more diamonds.

Cahalane has it all, touch, skill, hurl left and right, don't think he has a weak side, great reader, but above all strong, and athletic, but blessed with mobilty. He can win ball out of the air, shoot long distance, anywhere 20 yards of goal,he goes for goals.

Lads we have a special talent here.Jbm should bring him on the senior panel,he wont learn or develop with the u21s.

He doesnt have to play senior, but train with them.Bring him on after he does the leaving cert.A wonderful temparment and attuide to the game, works for every ball.

Has played at every grade from u10 up with bandon at both codes, natural skill.

Trevor horgan was very good, got a lot of ball, and won hes fair share of ball.
Sweeney superb at full, murt kenneally,o leary had a great battle with landers, all were superb.

Mark o keoffe is a top top class centre back and has been all year, but him and then seanaid smith,a top defender couldnt handle cahalane. Its not they played bad,far from it,like lehane on hes day, cahalane is unplayable ,is he really really that good.

Its great for cork that schools like hamilton are winning.
Midelton have had a fine year, these lads will have better days and are credit to their school.

Agree-it needs to be looked at players have two many games.

I do think in walsh case ,exception can and should be made.
Cahalane, horgan, histon, cadogan, are all going have to make choices down the line, along with sugrue, wall etc.
Take Rocestown cbs, their players are under strain, kingston brothers, niall cashman, mark dolan, aron ward, mark o connor are duel players such is the importance of cashman ,that he didnt play in the corn u mhuiri,as has a huge hurling game wednesday, and he played in the county final u21 sunday.

Maher is the manager and rightfully he wants to protect the players.Cahalane I hope stays hurling, but if he opted with horgan, out of the u21 hurling,no one could blame the man.

Eoin keane, alan cadogan called up to the football squad, when their on the Hurling ,wont work either.
Walsh has the best chance of working ,as he is hes own man,hes own job,can tailor hes recovery around hes day.

I dont agree the underage is failing over that. The u21 football team ,or clare hurlers who had teams at u21 and senior managed to win.Its more burn out of the players also id be worried at underage.
Take cahalane superb in the football, against kerry , a goal and five.
Superb in the hurling also, but then our manager decided to swtich him when he was dominating.Dual didnt affect him or the reason the hurlers lost.

You go to a lot of underage games, like me,you see the talent their Wille.

Its poor managers put in their ,ger fitzgerald four years, and the minor and intermediate hurling with kenneally proved that

I said in may,and june, the minors and u21 were not going to do anything.
Do you realistaclly see us beating waterford at walsh park imd june at u21.We have no chance.
Nothing to do with players, the talent is their.Players are not deveolping due to being poorly managed.
You surely agree, that a manager with an awful record ,as hes,how he got to manage a team at 3 levels,of intercounty ,with not so much a whisper of dissaproval ,and is destined,he wants it ,will replace Jbm,in time is beyound reasond.

At least wrong or right, the clubs in limerick had an outcry at the board meeting last night, and stuck together over tom ryan.

If only the clubs in cork had done the same with the kenneally appointment.Only one question they had to ask, what has he done to merit promotion to the second most important job in cork hurling as a manager?

The only one that questions it,is eammon murpy in the echo, but id say he is restricted tnd what he can and like to say.

On twitter ,he certainly dissapproved of the appointment and like most has no confidence at all.

Before ,people start thinking ,im having a go at another manager, for the sake of it,i think if they look at hes record-listen to hes intermediate county final match commentary with paudi palmer ,and ask most gaa people in cork about him as manager, and they all will say not up to it.Hes reading of that game, shows how he reads a games flow.About 8 points in it,he says this is 50/5o in the scoring.

And he had a good coach in frank flannery ,and he still picked players out of positions.

People need to see whats in front of them.
Dualism has it problems but has very little if all to do with corks underage failure.Using that as an excuse,Kenneally would love that.
For years, the development squads were a joke. They got it right at last and a credit to rebel og and those involved but they dont get enough support from the board.
So whats to blame when the u21s fail again???

Or do we a do a Ger fitzgerald ,in it.Im baffled,at odds ,cant really explain what went wrong ,we were flying two weeks ago,we beat the intermediates(fine play them in now but everybody else plays other counties in challenge matches)
Or im at loss.I cant explain it.
Wayne sherlock has done fantastic with blackrock u21s,john crowley of sarsfields, all good managers, but never given intercounty jobs.

Kenneally said in 2012,he looked at 251 players for the team. Can anyone tell me in a county as Cork, hurling ,our bread and butter,we cant produce 15 competive lads at the very least.Of course we can.
Carlow with Pat english and john meyler ,had a superb win last year at 21, hanley with westmeath,jj doyle with wexford, kevin ryan of antrim, had far less a pick than cork, but punched above their weight.

A dark dark day for cork hurling, that not one single player got nominated out for 45 for an u21 all star, yet joyce, lehane ,coughlan, all performed better at senior.
The first ever u21 team ever picked,we wont forget it in hurry, for all the wrong reasons.

The u21 games mallow and midelton ,rockies and midelton were two of the best hurling games all year, the dean ryan cup final,on both limerick and cork have testified that it was one of the best hurling games at any level.I see it week after the week, the talent cork has.

Just watch the difference with the minors this year, who will face a very very good limerick.
But this well coached team will push ,if they dont beat them, limerick away every step of the way, unlike last year at home, but for home town referree, cork should have been beaten out the gate by waterford.

Yet our chairman says that minor team was the best prepared he ever saw.He is a shoe in for the senior job,i as he was intermediate,minor,u21 manager,, on the radio as an expert opinion.Hes groomed for it, mark my words.
    Ger cunnigham wont get it.
Thats why when we win with jbm, enjoy it while it lasts.
And when that day comes ,their wont be one word from the clubs.

They will be the odd disconerning voices, the board play the pr game like a fiddle, ride out the storm ,and then, drive on,buisness as usal.

Your some beauty in fairness..oh ya..:-o..lol as you do yourself.

Most tippeary fans have nothing but respect and admiration for a guy that captained them in 96 to a minor, had a majior role in u21 success in 2010 as part of the backroom team, and in ist year in charge won the minor ,ist time in five years last year.

Shay boland had him involved with dublin a few years back.Hes record speaks for himself. He is a born winner.
But erra yeah ..crticise him and glorify macgeeney .Good man.Money well spent ,yeah sure.
I can't wait til the summer.Remember now,you said he is a huge addition to ye .By your beliefs,ye should be winning the all ireland.

I don't think he was. Dan Lucey midfield was the standout player. A fine hurler!
