    I need to know the STD codes for these exchanges if the exist. Eircom has a disconcerting habit of naming an exchange in 2 different ways

    Exchange ( suspected code )

    CLASHMORE CMO
    CROSS
    GORTNAHOE GUE
    LISSAVAIRD
    ROUNDWOOD ( is it in Laois or Wicklow)

    I also need the exchange code for these exchanges if they exist. By all means tell me they do not exist. :)

    Exchange Name ( suspected) and STD ( suspected)

    OLDTOWN 01
    PHOENIX PARK 01
    ASHMOUNT 021
    MODEL FARM RD 021
    Mallow The Beeches) 022
    LYRE 029
    KILASHEE 043
    LAKEPOINT BUSINESS PARK 044
    BOHERMEEN 046
    ORAM 047
    CROSS Keys 049
    BALLYLOOBY 052
    MONEYBALLYTYRELL 057
    FAHA CROSS 066
    CARNEY (CABINET) 071
    EMMOO 090
    CROSS
    LISSAVAIRD
    ROUNDWOOD

    TIA

    Sponge Bob.

    Hi Sponge Bob
    afraid I am not in position to provide lists of exchange codes, sorry. You can find any STD code by Googling the area. An exchange may be associated to a neighbouring exchange rather than the exchange bearing the townsland / area name.
    This is why we request the number rather than the townlands / street before we offer information on lines.

    Hi Sponge Bob
    afraid I am not in position to provide lists of exchange codes, sorry.
    Here is a list of exchange codes and std codes for you so, seeing as you cant find any yourself. You are more than welcome to copy and paste them into a spreadsheet, they are comma separated for ease of ingest!

    Does anyone else in eircom have the exchange codes and std codes I specifically requested ??

    Here is a list of exchange codes and std codes for you so, seeing as you cant find any yourself. You are more than welcome to copy and paste them into a spreadsheet, they are comma separated for ease of ingest!

    Any chance of putting that is a doc or pdf, please? A cheatsheet Format maybe?

    copy into text file in notepad but save the text file as list.csv not list.txt

    Then open csv in excel and it will be perfect.

    I'm missing a few IXP codes like:
    I think there this
    ASHMOUNT - AMT
    BALLYLOOBY -BBY
    BOHERMEEN -BMN
    CARNEY (CABINET) -CNY
    CROSS KEYS -CXK
    EMMOO -EMO
    FAHA CROSS - FHX
    LAKEPOINT BUSINESS PARK - LBP
    LISSAVAIRD -LVD
    MONEYBALLYTYRELL -MBL
    ORAM - ORM
    PHOENIX PARK -PXP

    Can anyone confirm?

    Also confirm "SUNCROFT" Exchange code and STD code. Thanks. I understand that there are 930 ADSL enabled exchanges now. Paste that list in while you are at it or PM me.

    Most of them are on this list here ( remove the last letter) . Sadly this eircom plan from late 2008 includes exchanges that still haven't been upgraded as promised (and they were promised in March 2007)

    http://www.strencom.net/contentfiles/File/all_adsl2_and_sdsl_enabled_exchanges_23-12.pdf

    Thanks

    Final Item.

    Linked Below is a Google Earth Map of Exchange Service areas supplied by eircom wholesale themselves .

    It contains the three letter codes I requested. I'm sure it will be of assistance to any eircom staff member who does not have this data to hand. :cool:

    Sadly it is incomplete. There are at least 100 exchanges missing . However it does give a very good idea of which exchange covers where you live.

    http://www.nextgenerationethernet.com/exchanges.kmz

    So now can I have the codes and stds please :)

    Sorry guys for hi jacking the thread, i just have a quick question.

    My exchange is on both lists and says it has been upgraded to both adsl1 +2
    so that should mean that i could order a more substanial broadband connection than the 1Mb that i was told that my line could handle yesterday by a sales person?? Am i way off the mark here?

    Hi Tony,

    Cheers but Mark is doing that and more for me since yesterday but thanks for the offer.

    I was just wondering why i would be told on the phone that i was only able to get one meg and when i asked if the exchange was due to be upgraded i was told it wasnt going to be.

    I'm just trying to see if i am reading these lists correctly and im understanding the whole thing correctly!

    Again thanks for the offer Tony, i can pm the number on to you but i dont want to be wasting all of the reps time :)

    If you have a max 1mbit line at 4-5 miles from the exchange then no upgrade is possible, ever. The line is perfect but you are simply too far away.

    If you have a max 1mbit line at 1 mile from the exchange then the line is crap. You need to sort out the crap line before you can upgrade. It may be crap in your house or outside, or both.

    Anybody get the codes for me yet ???

    Ok feelpablo
    thanks for getting back, I can see Mark has this in hand and will update you. I cannot explain the descrepency between what you were told and the list I'm afraid, but will know more once Mark has test results back.

    Hi SpongeBob
    If we cannot post the codes as you asked we could hardly PM them. I am chasing this for you and hope to have some info today tomorrow.
    I have two questions, neither of which affect if I can or can't get this info;
    (1) If you already have them I am not sure what you want me to provide, you asked for a list of 3 letter exchange codes then supplied same? I may have missed something and if so just let me know.
    (2) As these three letter codes are used for internal / organisational proceedures can I ask what you need them for? Again this does not affect availability, just curious and may be able to offer further / other info.
    Let me know and I will be in contact.

    I already have most of them Tony. The rest are either

    a) don't have them
    b) I have one name from when they were in planning but the exchange was launched as something else.
    c) they may known as 2 different things ..eg are Mallow AEH and Mallow (TheBeeches) the same . Codes disambiguate these problems.
    (2) As these three letter codes are used for internal / organisational proceedures can I ask what you need them for? Again this does not affect availability, just curious and may be able to offer further / other info.

    They are unique identifiers. They were generally available but the new generation of line checkers do not say like the old ones ...you are on the Blah exchange which is enabled or the Wah exchange which is not enabled.

    I maintain them for the net and comms forum and the latest list is visible here. The save lots of people time and effort!

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=60032

    I Maintain other stuff not in the public domain such as Cabinet Data for individual exchange areas eg do these D-E's look familiar :)

    DDM1001
    CCP_Plan_Area = DDM1001
    xys_ccps_X = 31xxxx
    xys_ccps_Y = 22xxxx
    CCP_Type_FW = Krone
    E_Side_Capacity = 450
    D_Side_Capacity = 502

    or perhaps this

    PRP1045
    CCP_Plan_Area = PRP1045
    xys_ccps_X = 32nnnn
    xys_ccps_Y = 22nnnn
    CCP_Type_FW = Quante
    E_Side_Capacity = 299
    D_Side_Capacity = 521

    They are useful for certain networking people who gotta get things done and questions answered. Once broadbandatoz.ie was taken down by eircom this month refreshing the list became a priority.

    Hi Sponge Bob

    I have made enquiries and have been advised that

    This ( internal operational) data is only provided by eircom Wholesale and only to Other Access Operators (OAOs) who have signed up to Bitstream.

    The link posted by you is referencing data from an internal system and is very obviously out of date. This has now been disabled.

    This data is not provided by eircom Wholesale to the general public. If you fall into either of the categories mentioned you should already have this information.
    Sorry I can do no more on this particular matter.
    Tony

    By what stretch of the imagination could it be considered internal or disabled When it is on Google Maps and all Tony :cool:?? If some petty functionary breaks the Google Link I will fix it (rather easily) using dropbox.

    The 'data' on eircom wholesale is usually out of date anyway! The mid decade version of this map data even had exchanges geocoded out in the Atlantic and on the Irish Sea.

    I did not ask you for exchange locations or service area Polygons, only whether eircom has an exchange with a particular name and what code it has if it exists. Hardly complicated as requests go.

    OH, and see attached graphic which, as you can see, is not primarily an eircom thing. I'll mail the lads in KN and ask for another favour so shall I...they owe me! :D

    I got a good laugh out of this thread, but if the eircom staff here decide that the matter is not for public discussion you shall be bashing your head off a brick wall while waiting for info that will never appear from them. The "interesting" remarks made about amber lines and artificial speed restrictions suggest that either frontline staff don't know what's going or have been told to keep their mouths shut!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,230 ✭✭✭Solair

    This kind of stuff just underlines why the local access infrastructure should have been kept in public hands!

    Front line staff in any of these companies rarely have access to any technical data other than through some kind of a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system which usually just provides them with very limited options.

    Other than where a number has been ported or moved around somehow, you can still figure out which exchange it's on based on the area code and the first few digits of a phone number

    Front line staff in BT will tell you your D and E sides ( the pair IDs) and your cabinet ...OH, and your exchange.

    They will tell you if that cabinet is due to get VDSL Gear.

    Everbody can get the entire exchange database and exchange codes for years in the UK. That information is here and uses data supplied by BT Wholesale and in Partnership with Ofcom

    In IRELAND they do not know

    a) Their own exchanges
    b) their own exchange codes
    c) WTF is a D side
    d) WTF is an E Side
    e) WTF is a cabinet.

    Astounding, then they tell me information in the public domain will be removed forthwith ...and then they find that removing it will break the whole site .....so they don't. :D

    Strike Glen island exchange off the list lads. Found It.

    That is what a typical modern exchange looks like ( the larger middle box) . The DSL gear will be in an even taller separate box with vents on top. eircom left themselves plenty of expansion room there, fair play.

    Don't anybody trouble themselves over the Clashmore Co. Waterford exchange because we found it HERE

    These are basically fibre-to-kerb installations, just bizarrely without DSL :D:D:D

    I'm sure you'll get lovely sound though on the voice lines hehe

    Voice-only FTTC - not many companies would do that!! :D

    Well, I suppose they're reverting to the P&T days when exchanges were probably classified under the Official Secrets Act on a need-to-know basis for absolutely no logical reason.

    Telecommunications access infrastructure information really should be in the public domain and that goes for eircom exchanges / cabinet nodes, UPC and other cable company systems and nodes and mobile networks mast locations.

    People have to make decisions e.g. where to buy/rent homes and setup businesses based on this kind of information.

    eircom:Tony,

    The supposed lists that you give to the OAO's are already well out of date the second you send them!
    If anything, when are you going to update your own lists?? :rolleyes:

    As already stated in numerous earlier posts, this is technical / operational information for operators and as such we will not be posting these codes here. This ( internal operational) data is only provided by eircom Wholesale and only to Other Access Operators (OAOs). . If you fall into either of the categories mentioned you should already have this information.
    Any customer who wishes information on their exchange, whether this be speed capacity, upgrade information NGN enablement have only to ask.
    If you are involved at a technical or professional level and need this information in this capacity I advise that you give our OLO wholesale section a call on 1 800 656 656 and they may be able to help.
