First time in and around dublin

    I want to get a friend a birthday present of going shooting, hes been dying to do it for years, clay and target shooting. Where is the best place in and around Dublin for it? Ive looked at hilltop and courtlough and they seem very similiar and i cant choose, does anyone have any suggestions or other clubs i should check out? Be kind i'm a newbie to this topic :D

    For what you want in the area your in those two would be not only your best options, but most likely your only options.

    Thanks. Anyone been to both? which would you suggest? they seem very similar to me so i cant decide.

    I've been to both Courtlough and Hilltop, and IMHO for a beginner there's not a huge amount between them. I've had fun at both and the instructors at both were friendly and helpful.

    Pick the one that's handiest for him to get to and if he enjoys it and wants to do it again, then go to the other one to get a flavour of that one.

    Once he gets a sense of what he likes and doesn't like about shooting then we should be able to give some more concrete recommendations.

    Cheers for that! The one in Balbriggan is nearer, we're on the northside, so i'll probably go with that one.
