However I don't see any reason why you can't buy them online, from anywhere in the world, once you have the documentation. There's nothing in the T&C that mentions residency.

I asked about 6 months ago and was told I needed to be in the country to register. A little bit of digging last night tells me otherwise. Going to try from abroad.

Nothing for me. The newest bond to win on Monday was AUS183638, today AUU257062, over 2 million new bonds.

Nice bit of luck for someone in Galway.

    I received postal notification this morning (11th January 2021) that I had won €50 .... dated 27th NOVEMBER 2020!

    I received postal notification this morning (11th January 2021) that I had won €50 .... dated 27th NOVEMBER 2020!

Was that a reinvestment bond/certificate or was it one of those notification letters ? I thought they had dropped those.

One more indication that their systems and processes are in disarray.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,059 ✭✭✭tuisginideach

No, just a notification letter that the prize had been paid into bank account. I'd say it was an An Post problem rather than a PB problem - I'm still receiving Christmas cards that were posted 21st December.

Gonna take mine out shortly but I really regret leaving them in so long.

Any low risk investment option would have dwarfed the returns tbf.

I put €750 into ETH today and I have already gained €60, in comparison to €0 from 7K worth of prize bonds haha. They're a great way of saving though.

    What's ETH?

The only way prize bonds would work as a possible investment for ordinary people is if the company split out corporate purchases from domestic small purchases under 10k. Two different barrels with two different prize amounts.

Throwing in a sneaky PB question here - I got a gift of couple of prize bonds before Xmas - they're registered to my home home address.

    1. Is it possible to change the address to my 'current' residence - or would I have to 'cash-in' then buy the same again.
    2. Can you just walk into a post office and cash them in?

Keen to keep adding to the collection, but would ideally like to track them all together!

Much appreciated. Found the rest of the details on the site! Clearly missed a massive help section on my initial search, poor form on my part.
Good luck all in upcoming draws!

Prize Bonds are sent by post, my last batch took a few weeks to arrive. The Bonds will have an account number, but not your 'State Savings Customer Number' on it.

You should receive your SSCN by post in a letter from the PB office, provided you supplied all the details requested.

AFAIK the PB staff are working from home and the whole Covid-19 has slowed down the normal service times.
