    Murder them.

With the nice weather over the last month or so, I had my windows open most day, got so many tiny little flies. There's at least 50 flattened flies on my desk now.

Try initially to escort them to window or door, if it's not working then it's 'Splat' time

Guide them out the door or window. Daddy long legs though, they lose their legs.

Escort them out the window. Unless I'm really tired. Then they DIE.

    Sneaky. What an assassin.

I used a makeshift flame-thrower on a spider last year. He was huge, and I couldn't get him out of the room.

Murder, then go outside with various weaponry to hunt down their closest relations.

I cry in a corner until they leave.

Failing that I move to another county.

Cold blooded murder every time...especially when they're buzzing around an opened can of beer/bottle of wine. G'way from it ye little sh1ts!!!

I escort the big insects out...kind of like a huge doorman. "You're barred!"

If there is one or two spiders in a room, I will leave them. They will take care of the smaller insects.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 851 ✭✭✭PrincessLola

If its a spider I scream and try to kill it from afar with hairspray.

I can just picture the sad face of a ladybug as you tell it to leave. :(

    depends

If I want a challenge and/or am pissed off about something, swat the flies
spiders are no challenge so Ill just point to the door then to the can of aerosol and the lighter in my hand look at it and shrug my shoulders

    They have to die.

I'm more sinister in my approach. Unbeknown to the spider, I will let him create his web and I will direct insects in his direction and let him murder them for me. Once he is no longer of use to me I will send him to web cloud in the sky and groom his successor.

I kill nothing and look down on people who do.

Apart from farmers, I do like my burgers.

I kill them but sometimes if they put up a good fight and play a good game of hide and seek, i show mercy on them and set them free. They need to gain my respect.

    She's nothing but a troublemaker.

I never, ever kill spiders. Spiders are the good guys. If you want to kill those pesky flies the spiders will do all the work for free. Plus they just sit in the corner of the room all quite.

When a fly comes in the window it's only a matter of time until the food chain claims its victim. I just have to block out the screams of "Help me! Help me!"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,880 ✭✭✭ArtyM

All you have to do is follow three simple rules. One, never underestimate your opponent insect. Expect the unexpected. Two, take it outside. Never start anything inside the bar house unless it's absolutely necessary. And three, be nice.

I'd help bumble bees and spiders where possible, wasps and flies either get nilfisked or squashed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,025 ✭✭✭problemchimp

I usually leave them be so as the kids can play with or kill them. If it's a fly I assume he has landed in some shiit before coming to visit us, so I give him 30 seconds to find an open window and then it's splat time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,954 ✭✭✭✭Larianne

If its a spider I scream and try to kill it from afar with hairspray.

Use a lighter with the hairspray. You'll get a better effect. ;)

I tend to catch them and then release outside, unless its a bee or wasp. Those feckers cause pain so they gotta die!

    You're a disturbed individual ;)

I do both, sometimes put them out the window or door, sometimes just splat. If I can catch them easily then it's out the window. Moths generally I kill though.

Me and the insects / spiders have an understanding, don't fùck with me and I won't fùck with you.

I don't mind spiders, they take care of any flies that hang around too long. The GF always wants me to kill them since she's terrified of spiders but I just grab them, put them out the window and let the little buggers be on their merry way.

Though there's nothing quite as unsettling than seeing a gigantic spider, getting something to put him in and returning to find him gone. Don't want him crawling down my mouth when I go to sleep. :(

Last thing I need are more spider eggs exploding inside of my brain again..............boy, that was an embarrasing dinner with GF's family when hundreds of baby spiders crawled out of my nostrils and ears.......

I've never really understood the level of cowardice it takes to kill a spider.

Spiders kill flies and other annoying bastard insects so I don't have to and they're bloody harmless. Spiders are my friends.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 381 ✭✭TheKells

I order assassinations on spiders if I see them, that's after I run away from them to a safe distance of course.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 495 ✭✭buswankers

I make my best efforts to shoo them to the nearest window...if its a fly i'll try & swat him in that general direction...spiders i try & trap under a jar or something else (the see through lid of cotton buds prove very useful in these situations) & will proceed to throw him out the window (2 story house, but spiders always land on their feet don't they?!)

If my efforts to vacate them from the premises alive don't come to fruition then the hoover comes out.

Oh & its really only spiders/flies in my bedroom that bother me - dont really mind them anywhere else in the house cos they wont be near me when i'm asleep!

I try to shoo them out, I really hate and feel guilty killing them :(:(:( I killed a daddylonglegs a few years ago and I'm still traumatised

Spiders are ok as long as they are not near where i am sleeping

Zero tolerance on both, they must die.

Spiders especially. Pick them up with toilet paper, drop them in the toilet, piss on 'em (optional), flush.

I flipping hate flies, they are disgusting, I generally use a magazine or whatever is handy at the time to try and kill the little flippers.

Spiders are ok if they are not in my bedroom or bathroom. Otherwise its "Sorry Mr. Spider" and he gets the boot slammed down. :)

Moths are bastards, especially when they keep banging into the light. They made a racket, some of them are huge

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,814 ✭✭✭TPD

Moths I'll kill, spiders I generally leave alone. If it's particularly big and nasty, i.e. I can hear its footfalls, I'll glass the fcuker. (and escort him to the window, throw him from the 1st floor, watch him land without a bother and run into the grass to plot revenge..)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,736 ✭✭✭Irish Guitarist

I release them into the wild if they're annoying insects. If they're minding their own business I sometimes let them stay.

I just found a mouth flying around so I chased him until I caught him between my hands and let him out the window. I did this a while ago with another moth but I ended up accidentally squashing the little guy. :( A moth recently left a hole in my favourite t-shirt but I don't think that justifies murder.

I once found a may bug on his back in the footpath. He was struggling and was going to die. I felt sorry for him so I picked him up and turned him over.

I don't even kill mosquitoes when one starts drinking my blood. I just blow him away.

Anyone who kills spiders has no right to complain about other insects in their house by the way.

Just wasps and weird looking insects that look like they might mean business.
