    Great to watch the superfight, action packed!
    It was a very well run competition, will be back next year.

    Awesome match, beautiful control from the mount and nice setup for the arm bar. Big congrats to both guys, fair play for competing great to see:). Anyone got any of the other results?

    Richard gorey won the blue belt absolute beating shane o callaghan with a flying RPS at the very start of the match

    Purple gi and nogi absolutes both won by Karl Roche. Female blue belt gi and nogi absolute both won by Amanda English. Ciaran Maher took gold on blue belt light. Don't remember any others.

    A really well run, well reffed, well attended tournament with a great atmosphere. I had a blast.

    Kyuzo/Drysdale jiu jitsu had 7 competitors there and took home 3 gold and 1 bronze so we had a nice return for a small team. A few guys didn't get the results their training deserved but that's sport for you.

    It's certainly put the pressure on for future tournaments on the island!

    Also forgot to say that it's really cool to have black belt divisions now. Hope it continues on the future.

    Was my first comp. Had a good time despite not being happy with my own fights at all. Everyone was really friendly and there was a great atmosphere. Very well run. Looking forward to next years one already!

    Awesome day yesterday. Cant say enough good things about it even if i performed pretty badly myself.

    Pros:
    -Huge number of competitors (150+)
    -Warmup area and three competion areas
    -Pre-registration allowed brackets to be on the wall when competitors arrived
    -High quality of reffing and table judgery
    -Clear announcements of when to warmup and upcoming divisions
    -Blackbelt superfight. Brilliant to watch, actually inspiring
    -Fokai, Tattami and photography stands all top quality and reasonably priced
    -Competitor t-shirts
    -Food: Pizza, Ceasar salads. Yum!
    -Everyone was relaxed and appeared to have a great time

    Cons:
    -What cons

    As an aside, do Fokai have an online shop?

    My first BJJ comp, it was a great day, very well run and reffed and great atmosphere between all competitors. The superfight was just unreal.

    Wasn't happy with my own performance but looking forward to the comp.

    There are an annoying number of photos of me failing at half guard in that album :eek:

    Great day, my first big tournament and lots to take away.... It was really well run and I learned a lot of important lessons

    I was pretty disappointed with my performance in the gi tbh. NEarly knocked myself out pulling guard and spent a while dazed... Never really threatened any form of sweep from there either. Attempted a cross collar choke that was ok, but needs a lot of work in relation to finishing. Held guard ok until I stared trying to attack a bit more. Missed some really simple schoolboy sweeps (and in no gi too). And got really lazy in turtle and got arm barred as a result - lesson learned there.

    No gi I was a bit better, won my first match thru positional dominance but never really threatened a submission. Lost my next match on points to the dude who went on to win beginners >75kg. Never felt too threatened by anything during it, but never really showed any control or decent attacks either.

    Happy enough after 6 months of training and have a good idea on what I need to work on now. A few more matches and wins would have been nice but at my level it's all a learning experience! :)

    Did SBG take the over all team points??
    91 is pretty massive!

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 2,917 ✭✭✭Barry.Oglesby

    In John's post it says Pedro Bessa had 97 but I didn't add them up. One day I'll bring a team large enough so that adding these takes more time :)

    3xgold= 27
    2xbronze= 2

    Team total 29points

    Once again, fantastic day. Very impressed by everything organisation wise and also the standard of competitor. Blue belt divisions were brilliant to watch too.
