Watching a deer shot is nothing to shooting your own.

But try not let the nerves get to ya "buck fever"

Happens to all of us at times, have to stay calm and pick your deer.
Shoot a few rabbits or foxes leading up to it so you are more going through the motions.

Spend the rest of your summer preping your butchering area.
You can get a hand winch for trailers etc that is very useful, a drinks cooler and a few good knives and a steel.
A deck scrub for floor, a big basin for Offal
Or if you are really well prepared, Rubberised Rubberised paint the floor where you do the butchering so you can mop it.
Blood is very hard on Cement floors

I always stock up on Bin liners and have a pair of kevlar/sharps gloves to (A) Get a good grip on animal
    (B) not slice your hands when skinning

I know I am forgetting lots of things
I get a little better at butchering every year, I find practising on other animals helps when every the opportunity arises
    Goats, Rabbits, Foxes :D
