Anybody who talks with an american accent is either a posh wannabe or someone who took the J1 working holiday in the states way to seriously.
sometimes is a combo of both.

the division gobshites talk about in dublin doesnt exist. there are very upmarket areas on the northside and absolute dumps on the southside, and vice versa. my fiance's aunt lives in a mansion in belcamp while i know a bloke living in squalor in harolds cross
east dublin along the dart line is nice on both sides of the liffey

and also certain areas of north Dublin like Malahide?

That is, indeed, complete arse. Why are you asking loaded questions?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

My mother's American. I used to get so much grief for it at school.

It's only back home people get all angsty about accents. Dublin has many different accents, get over it :)

Dont know about others, but I dont do it on purpose.

To be honest, I find a lot of irish accents to be dull and lazy.

    To hell with'em!

They don't. They sound like Irish people who speak a bit differently to other Irish people.

And before that; The Late Late/pirate radio/60s liberalism/beatniks/jazz...

Language and accents are in a constant state of flux. 100 years ago we would have sounded completely different, as we will in another 100 years...
