    These racoons have already invaded Belgium and Germany. They must not be allowed to gain a toehold in Ireland. Racoons are predators and will devastate irish wildlife like the american mink has.

    If it is only the one animal, as the article states, then impact will be low to non-existant. However the threat is still there. Raccoon roundworm among other diseases.

    You have to wonder at the mindset of people that would import such an animal, and have such little regard for the environment, its flora & fauna, and the welfare of the animal itself, as to allow it to "get loose"

    Sounds like a case of that was a great idea at the time and turned into what the **** do i want this thing for?! it should be captured or shot asap.

    How the hell do ya get a racoon into ireland anyway??????

    Indeed - a Racoon is the last thing our vanishing wildlife needs, just imagine a mink crossed with a monkey!!:mad::(
