I'm having a shocking time of it.

Had nothing today at punchestown. That 2 full days and no winner. You think that you'd pick up one anyway.

Have money on Quevega, captain chris and hurricane fly. Not a lot of imagination but can't see them being beaten.

Captain chris is better jumping right handed, ground suits and it seems a really weak field. Realt dubh is pretty handy but raced last week And that will surely still be in the legs.

Don't need to say anything about the other 2.

    Wow.....

I agree that he's improved a lot this season but he's still held by Mourad on the Cheltenham form. Granted it's only a length (which confirms that he's totally overpriced tomorrow) but Mourad is well held by Quevega.

Also he's been on the go since last October to he might be over the top at this stage.

Would also appear well held by Voler on the basis of their Navan run.

Your thinking the better ground will bring him on??

He was 5th at Cheltenham after getting squeezed out at the top of the hill and stayed on well. Would have taken Mourad but for the interferance. Better ground and a strong pace - he's very good over 3m - its his best trip.

Punchestown is a grave yard though so he could well flop totally but if he runs his race hes 5/1 MAX. Because of that if I'm not lumping on but his price is almost sickening....

They all have a chance. Carlito has his but ran no race at Aintree and is most likely over the top.

i think popcorn is worth a small bet in the opener 2day.Although on jockey booking he looks the second string he does look like he will stay the 2m 4.Badger even though he won v well on hurdle debut has not looked like the 2m 4 will suit him so far on the flat.Popcorn also jumps quite well.I know that muppet patrick is a concern but at 16/1 its worth a look

    No winner yesterday

Used to live in Kildare years ago and this trip down memory lane has me thinking (if not wishing) I should have stayed here, absolutely lovely part of the country.

Anyway, I'll be backing these today.......

3.40 Harpsy Cord small e/w bet
4.15 Pepsi Rock, decent ish e/w bet, I reckon this horse is at it's sweet HC spot
4.50 Another Jewel e/w, I reckon Garde Champetre has seen better days, no doubt the November Open run is clouding my view (lost Sterlings over there at that race)
    5.30 Quevago
6.40 Realt Dubh, 8l to find on Cheltenham race but I think Punchestown is a different kettle of fish and 5/2 compared to the short price of the fav is value imo.

    3.40 Bagber
    4.15 Dr Whizz
    4.50 Another Jewel e/w
    5.40 Quevega
    6.05 Sir vincent
    6.40 Captain Chris
    7.15 Sizing india

My main fancy of the day is Dr Whizz. Only bet so far is tenner on him at 100/30 yesterday destroyed me. If he wins 2 tasty looking bets in Ladbrokes.
Quevega and the Fly 9/4 and Quevega and Captain Chris 5/2. They look fairly tasty on paper il have a lash of the Quevega and Hurricane Fly double if Dr Whizz wins. Although if he doesnt im sure il still end up backing it.

    4.15 Tawaag

    4.50/5.30 Garde Champetre/Quevega double

and a small e/w on Mikael.

    so far anyway

    6.40 Realt Dubh win

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,159 ✭✭✭Onecoolcookie

Great ride from Cullen there and a nice winner for myself, took it at 11/4 when Garde Champetre was withdrawn but got paid out at 100/30, thanks paddy!

What price do we think Quevega will go off at?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

    Sizing India in the last.

Really gutted we didn't get a race from Rigour Back Bob. On that form together with what might have happened at Cheltenham, he certainly could have won today.

Any opinions on tomorrows handicaps? interesting to see Binocular and Menorrah at around 5's although its hard to see anything beat the fly!

Don't know what to do with myself here, Thinking of big double on the fly and first lieutenant but just nervous that so young could turn the tables with first lieutenant. I've watched the cheltenham race a few times now and i'm undecided whether so young would have beaten FL without the last fence blunder, FL stayed on very strongly where as so young looked a bit one paced ( i know he had just gone through a fence but gathered his feet fairly quickly afterwards)

    What do ye all think?

So Young isn't the most fluent jumper at times anyway, I've seen him step at a few hurdles before Cheltenham.

I'll have a look at the race now but I think he fluffed one three from home aswell? Still undecided myself but if So Young is 5/4 or less I will be taking First Lieutenant.
