I think Rigour Back Bob is a decent bet in the world hurdle. Quevega will be hard to beat and Voler la Vedette too. 14/1 about Rigour Back is too big though. Look at the distance between him and Mourad at Cheltenham, how Mourad got through and what happened to Rigour Back. Mourad 4s and Rigour 14s? Not right.

Look at the 4.20 tomorrow. One of the weakest Grade 1's I've seen in a while.

    Am I seeing this right?

Quevega is evens for the race at Punchestown??

Sizing Europe could possibly be my biggest horse bet ever. Got word of him for Cheltenham, so hopefully some good news for him for Punchestown.

Flattery will get you everywhere...just don't come crying to me when it goes tits up!
    :pac:

Losing is a big part of betting - the idea is to win more than you lose :P

Something I'm not able to do at the minute.

Very difficult to be anyway certain of this one. I've gone e/w on Golden Silver based on value and the fact that he has beaten other 3 this season and won this race last year (sizing europe was 3rd).

Meant to be stronger on softer ground than what's expected tomorrow but I believe it was pretty dry for this race last year

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

That Champion Chase looks a definite no bet race for me. Not much between Big Zeb and Sizing Europe, quietely fancy Captain Cee Bee.

Yeah, I'm a bit annoyed that I hesitated on quevega. Not sure now about backing him at that price. Anyone think Carlito Brigante can step up to Quevega's level?

Was going to back Thousand Stars but I half expected owners to withdraw considering they also own Quevega

Quevega is the best in the field to be fair, she is a better mare than Voler. Thousand Stars will run, I would think he will be the biggest danger with Mourad depending on how good the ground is.

Zest for Life looks a good bet tomorrow in the Hunter Chase, had 7/1 on course last year, went off 9/2 and beat Wedger Pardy who won it the previous two years. Doesn't owe me anything after last year but I will be expecting a good run all the same.

Thousand Stars definately running in Friday's Rabobank hurdle and not Thursday according to interview with owner Deane in todays Racing Post

Lads tomorrow I fancy the chances of Eagles Pass in the 2 mile handicap hurdle at 33/1.
3rd in this last year off 10 pounds higher hes ran poorly this season perhaps to keep his mark down and the Heavy ground didn't suit.
Hes won at the course and the distance is not a problem. He will like the ground too and the trainer is in good form.

I have a lot of respect for Won in the Dark, Im not saying he will win but is definitely to be respected, great finisher!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33 jerryDyid

    in the 4.20 Rathlin
good second in a Grade 2 at Fairyhouse where he was travelling well until his jumping let him down when it mattered. This obviously has to improve but at the price I think he is the value in the race

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33 jerryDyid

what's the weather been like up in kildare ? been lashing down here in cork since saturday

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,172 ✭✭✭NaiveMelodies

Quito De La Roque looks great value at 11/4 tomorrow for me.. Only big bet of the day.
No bet for the champion chase, completely open IMO.

I think a Quevega/Hurricane Fly double looks a nice bet, but will have a small e/w single on Voler La Vedette in the world hurdle!

Think I'll be laying Kauto too, I reckon he'll be backed bigtime on raceday so I'll wait till just before the off.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 874 ✭✭✭eilo1

has it really been raining in Cork??!
Iv been holding back on my betting because of the ground being so hard in Wicklow at the minute. I assume its not too different in Kildare.

I was riding some sport horses in the field today and the ground is seriously hard! It really adds another variable to the betting especially over chase fences.

Sizing Europe could possibly be my biggest horse bet ever. Got word of him for Cheltenham, so hopefully some good news for him for Punchestown.

Think I'm just going to repeat my Cheltenham bet, Sizing Europe on the nose and reverse forecast with Sizing Europe and Big Zeb.

Going to go through all Bromheads horses over the festival, might do a treble with the Sizings, will have a look through the cards.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,974 ✭✭✭✭Gavin "shels"

Looking through the cards there, Champion Chase there's 6 horses with Paddy Power paying out on 3 places, Changing Course is 200/1, now unless this horse only has 1 leg it has to be worth a couple of euro e/w.

He might as well only have 1 leg. The other 5 horses are grade 1 class horses or close to it. Save the couple of euro Changing Course will more than likely be pulled up or tailed off.

Why don't you nicely explain to the newb their mistake rather than leaving a sly remark. And don't say it was an innocent question.

Do you think she should be shorter/longer? I'll still be wading in, to me she looked every bit as good over 3m last year as over 2m 5, and there is no stronger opposition in the field this time, with the exception of TS maybe.
Sizing Europe could possibly be my biggest horse bet ever. Got word of him for Cheltenham, so hopefully some good news for him for Punchestown.

I wouldn't be so confident. He looks a different horse at Cheltenham, he lost here last year, and my own personal fancy Captain Cee Bee may well beat him on a less stiff jumping test and a smaller field. Can't write off Big Zeb either

Think Big Zeb is safest bet in the Champion Chase. Will have small interest in him.

Oilily is best bet of the day. 3/1 is great value.

Have to back Quel Esprit with Paddy Power. They are refunding all bets on falls, unseated & brought down at punchestown. Quel Espirt wont be outside top 3 if completes.

Mtched fiver for Labrokes in the Sun. Not conditions on what race it can be used and you can use it on non-singles too. A nice reverse forecast with Sizing Europe and Big Zeb is what mine when towards. Think the Herald have one too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

    3.40 Outlaw Pete

    4.20 Rathlin

    4.55 Wee Giant e/w

    5.30 Big Zeb

    6.40 Quel Espirit

Small bets on the Mullins horses in the bumpers Mr Carson(6.05) and Morning Royalty(7.15)

Found out why Bromhead is running this horse in with Sizing Europe, so I will be keeping the couple of euro.:D

Heard from Bolger's yard that both Outlaw Pete and Zest For Life are in great form.

The lads down there can't really pick between them.

It looks like you might get lucky and get Outlaw Pete at 5's based on the market at the moment. If this happens then he's a e/w shot to nothing.

I think the reverse forecast with Outlaw Pete and Zest For Life will be the way to go. I can't see anything else beating the two of them.

I'll also cover off my singles on each of them.

Weird market on the first race - Betfred at taking everything on.

Is that in shops aswell as online? Had a faller there and wouldn't mind getting my stake back to put it on Quel Esprit later.

Had Outlaw Pete in a lucky 15 so good start. Have Big Zeb, Black Zorro and Quito De La Roque as the other picks.

Bit of aftertiming with Outlaw Pete. But these are my bets for the day.

Reverse Forecast – Sizing Europe/Big Zeb

Lucky63 e/w – Outlaw Pete, Oilily, Nearest the Pin, Black Zorro, Quito De La Roque, Morning Royalty

E/W Double – Salesin and Loosen My Load

Might do a small single on Sizing Europe too, see how the bets above are looking come 5.30.
