Hello! My friend and I are travelling from Australia for a few weeks in Ireland at the end of this year, and we'd really like some advice on where to spend New Years Eve. We're very much open to either the city or a little country town! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :)

You should check out The George in Dublin, great traditional Irish pub!

Leanne I hope you have a great time in Ireland! Just be warned that 99% of the answers you will get will be piss takes however Funkz is correct with the George! I've heard he is a regular so you can trust his advice :)

I'm just trying to navigate my way around this forum...arrghh!! Imagine how difficult it's going to be in a new country! Haha! Thanks guys...we've actually got about a week in Dublin to start our trip, so we'll have to check that one out! Is there a particular area of Dublin that's an ideal location for accessing much of anything we'll want to see? :)

Sorry, that was really unclear...I'm referring to an area to look for accommodation! And funkz, you may well see us there! :D

Check to see if there is a gig on in the O2 Arena that night.

    www.ticketmaster.ie

I'm sure someone will be playing in the run up to it.

Also most of Dublin will be rockin' that night, pubs will be jammed with people.

Aussie bar on Parnell St. called the Wool Shed Baa.

Dont go to Dublin... You will prefer Galway. Belfast is great craic too.

I wouldn't spend a week in Dublin tbh. A few days is plenty & then head west. West cork/Kerry is lovely!

Not sure if serious lol. Yeah I live right up at the north-west tip, its a pretty remote place. Good craic to be had at times like.

London or Edinburgh. Precisely nothing happens in Ireland for new year but i would urge you to come and spend lots of money on either side of New Years.

LOL nah, I've tried many times and succeeded only in creating much in the way of laughter from observers, and coughing salt water from my lungs...but for the sake of keeping up appearances, I'm the klutz amongst my friends and ALL of them surf (that is a bold-faced lie, but lots of them do!)
