I myself would have my dinner polished off and normally people would only be half way through their dinners savoring every mouthful -maybe its because growing up it was fight for survival having hunga siblings -

So just wondering how fast do you eat food?

I eat incredibly slowly, I'm always left at the table after everyone else has buggered off. Probably because I spent more time talking than eating.

    I wish I could eat quickly :(

I read this as do you eat fast food, not food fast.

Yes, but only in moderation. Probably twice a month I might get a pizza or Indian. Never eat McDonnells or Burger King, its not food, it’s a chemical reaction.

* just realised I didnt read the title, ha ha, I blame it on the heat :o

    no, i eat slow.

my wife on the other hand - she's a montrous bitch. i'm convinced she believes mastication is something she leaves me downstairs to do by myself 30 days out of every month...even february...

I inhale my food, really wish I would take more time and savour my food.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,370 ✭✭✭Knasher

I don't chew, I just relax my jaw and let the food slide down.

I have a young lad just like that! He can't stop talking at the table and always ends up last to finish! If at all.
I eat quick, probably a habit learned when i was a kid on my dads farm. You never knew when a cow would escape or some other urgent matter happen in the middle of dinner time! So we'd all go silent as we wolfed down the dinner!:pac:

I eat food really slowly, you don't get to taste it properly if you just scoff it all down.

I was scolded once for masticating at the dinner table.............oh wait.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,119 ✭✭✭Mongarra

    +1.

Only last Saturday at a family "do" there were 8 of us and I was last on the main course by about 10 minutes. Always was last and it's not that I chew everything 28 times or believe other masticating advice. I probably talk too much.

The only drawback is that it is usually cold by the time I finish.

I eat fast, and don't talk till I'm finished. Eating is a special private time between me and the food.

Jesus, no wonder I was overweight as a teenager.

I eat fairly fast myself! But the most important is to enjoy.

I find that the classier the meal the slower I eat. I usually scoff down fast food but if I am somewhere that I get a large plate with barely any food on it then I eat a lot slower.

Used to go to Burger King on Tuesdays and KFC on Wednesdays but cut them out of my diet as i was becoming a fat mess. Ive lost 7 kilos on 8 weeks :pac: added a little bit of excercise and no more pizza :(

Yeah I eat fairly fast. Simple, I don't talk much. Food first, discussion afterwards while digesting.

I hammer food like Homer Simpson. Usually thats because I'm just after coming in from a run, but even if I haven't gone running that day I'm still a complete mucksavage, so there's no - BUUUUUURRRRPPPP!!!!! - excuse.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,775 ✭✭✭✭kfallon

Yeah I do eat fast, it's one of the reasons I hate going out to eat, I don't see it as an experience or entertainment, nor do I "eat with my eyes", I eat cos I'm hungry and I eat to fill me up! Waiting around between courses does my nut!

Prob not as fast as when I was younger tho!

Pig's tend to chew,I'd say I eat more like a duck.

Nope, I've always eaten slowing without realising, and am glad of the fact. I've always eaten smaller portions than the rest of my family and put it down to this. I don't know I'm even eating slowly until I notice everyone else has polished their food and are waiting for me to finish!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,295 ✭✭✭✭Duggy747

I take my time so slowly that the food on my plate goes off quicker than I can eat it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,564 ✭✭✭Naikon

Not too fast, yet not too slow. I am pretty certain it takes around 20 mins to register the fact that you are full.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,826 ✭✭✭phill106

Yes, I am a sufferer of premature mastication...

I am a terribly fast eater, and the tastier the dish, the faster I will eat it.
I guess it's down to the taste being so good that you just want it again and again.
I am aware of my "flaw" and do try my best to eat slower when in company, but, alone,
    the wolf comes out.

Don't get how someone could spend 20 mins or so eating a fries from mackers, or a big mac.
Me, if in the mood, it's gone in 7-8 mins, 10 mins tops.
Oh, and when I have to eat slow, or slower, I never enjoy the meal near as much.

Likewise, I'll be last to finish a nice meal or a decent dish. But if have to buy some fast food or deli crap when I'm on the move. Then I'll wolf it down pronto.

i eat at an unparalled olympic speed.

It comes from growing up with my family.

If you didnt eat fast you didnt eat.

I would eat a double quarter pounder and large curry chips faster than my fiance can eat half a regular burger.

Its not a good habit, but just the way i am

Am exactly the same! Can hound through food in no time at all - the more i like it - the quicker it disappears - big mac meal.... would never top 10 minutes and probably closer to 5 - only ever get them in a drive through probably because of this! Other main weakness are the big bags of crisps - any kind - can have them emptied in the time it takes the oh to munch through a tiny multipack bag!
