    No, I'm not Ted Haggard or some fundamentalist Christian and I don't hold a grudge against people who want to believe in Islam but separately I do believe in freedom of expression. That's why this video caught my attention;

It's just a book, I'm expressing my laziness by not burning it

As bad as burning Korans is... I read the title as Let's burn half a million Koreans... A good bit worse.

Good luck with that, make sure to post it up on youtube for all to see. You won't come to any harm.... honest ;)

I might just burn a CD instead. Remember CD's?

People are posting these comments really fast. Did they watch the whole video? It's more than 8 minutes long.

You're really asking two questions there, I mean what really is a video? And what do they tell us about ourselves?

It was koreans!! Epic spellfart. I was wondering where the hell we were gonna put all the ashes, then why the feck we were burning them. In that order. Which makes me worry that I might either be too easily led, or a bit evil.

Is the koran , the korean national dish ?

I just burned a copy of the TV Guide, haha! Take that! Yes!

    Koran --> Qur'an

    Can't call them that either.

That was the name of a sentient race in a Star Trek episode.

They won't be happy about that.

    Which one would you prefer;
Quran, Kuran, Koran, Qur’ān, Coran or al-Qur’ān?

Lets just burn half a million Koreans, they are fairly easily rounded up etc, plus it won't piss off our Muslim Brethren who would then launch a Fatwah on our asse5. You just don't wanna mess with a Fatwah, Thinwahs are bad enough, but the plump ones can do real damage.

That's exactly what I tought the first time I read the 'burn a Koran' headline ,scary thing is I saw it a few more times and I still read it like burn a Korean!

No good. All used as sentient races in either Star Trek, Star Wars or Zena Warrior Princess.

Don't want to burn Koreans either. The ones form the south are nice, hard working people and you'll have a hard time rounding up 500,000 from North of the Border.

What about burning half a million euro? That'll show em.

Hmmm...bookburnings, historically a bit of an expression of fascism and intolerence.
I like to express my freedom of expression by expressing things that are worth expressing and letting other people express themselves by, for example, writing and publishing and reading books that are important to them, without me interfering by, for example, burning them.

People shouldn't be afraid of these mad bearded fundamentalists. Burn on. I don't believe in mohamed or the koran so have no care for them.

    A regretful role-eyes

Sorry. Couldn't help going off topic.

Guy that burns stupid book is a moron. Morons that get upset about it and kill people are immeasurably worse.

Which came first the morons or the idiots?

How can you take it seriously.

Theo van Gogh was killed because he decided to draw a depiction of Muhammad. Many other people were attacked and received death threats because they did the same and Western embassies were burned to the ground. Then came "Draw Muhammad Day". Thousands of people took part to underscore the importance of freedom of speech.

After Ted Haggard decided to burn the Qur'an people were murdered at a UN compound because of a book. The Delete a Qur'an Day follows more or less the same logic as Draw Muhammad Day - to reiterate the importance of freedom of speech and not let other dictate how others think no matter how ridiculous their beliefs are.

Maths was never my strong point.

It could be morons x 3 = idiot.

Either way the guy who burned the book was a moron, but quite within his rights to do so. He didn't directly kill anyone by doing so.

The idiots who killed people because the book burning upset their little brains and offended their "beliefs", should be shot.

World War 3 is not far away.

On a more serious note, I think we in the west really have no idea of the threat implied by Muslim Fundamentalism. Firstly, we are soft and weak by comparison, secondly they are outbreeding us by a country mile, and thirdly they are convinced they are right and we are wrong and should convert or die. This worries me, and I believe they will prevail, no question about it. It is just a matter of conviction, and they are more convinced than we. We are too liberal and wet - if we moved to a Muslim nation and attempted to impose our views upon them they would cut our throats, vice versa, we implement "tolerance"programmes - they must view us a soft touch for assimilation, and I would think the day that happens is not too far distant.

My missus has just gone out with a torch and a poker to watch out for the inevitable hit squad headed our way. I will be the one behind her with a large firearm.:D "The Borg" anyone?.

I knew it, they are the Borg guys from Star Trek.

I wonder if boards.afg has a thread on it about burning the bible.

Based on the intolerance, the posts on boards.afg probably read like this....

I'm going to kill them all, all of them. FATWHAT. JIHAD.
I'll burn their books, their loose women, their fancy cars and their houses made of concrete.
    Are you with me brothers?????
    Death to the Leprechaun infidels.

On a serious not also. In their world the division is them and us.
As far as I'm concerned let them burn whaever they like, they're far enough away not to bother me.

And they don't know where i live.

.....So, on the Sunday the 10th April 2011, I too will burn the Qur'an (too lazy to do 500,000), not with the traditional flame but with my hard drive. Every time someone downloads an e-book, for example, they have a legitimate copy of that book - similar in theory to a physical hard-copy of that book in that it contains the same ideas. If I were to destroy a hard-copy of the book by fire I would be symbolically destroying what the ideas in that book have come to represent. In theory, if I were to delete the electronic version of that book, I would also be destroying the ideas that that book has become to represent but with a different method. ....

    Regards,

    K.P.

When you delete the "book", you're just removing it's entry on the file allocation table, the 1's and 0's are still in a coherent form on your hard drive, even if you remember to flush the recycle bin.

You'll need to install some third party software to shred those 1's and 0's so that all traces of the off the book/file can no longer be forensically stuck back together again.

Otherwise, your intentions and convictions cannot be taken seriously.

I hope that guy isn't using a solid state drive, he'll have a hard time destroying it :/

The Koran can never be created or destroyed, merely changed from one form to another.

Have to go, two cars full of men just pulled up outside.

Typical western pussy assed approach. They burn our flags, cut hostages throats and impose sharia. We get a nerdfest deleting pixels from their screens. I'm sure the Muslim world is quaking in its boots.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,445 ✭✭✭Absurdum

I took a dump on a koran one time just to piss someone on another forum off, it worked as well.

Or you could get some old hard drive, fill it with 500,000 e-copies of the Qur'an and then physically burn the hard-drive.

One could rip a physical book to shreds and say that I destroyed that book - but the shed could be forensically pieced together again. Does this mean that my intention cannot be taken seriously? No, it's the symbolism not the technicality that counts.

They're just frustrated. Have you seen their women?

We should send them a few copies of Playboy to burn. That'll do the trick

Theo van Gogh was killed because he decided to draw a depiction of Muhammad.

Eh...actually, that's not why he was killed
After Ted Haggard decided to burn the Qur'an people were murdered at a UN compound because of a book.

So how many people do you think will be murdered because of delete an ebook day?

Like the belief that deleting a file on a hard drive will accomplish anything? OP - instead of defraging your hard drive why don't you go out and get laid instead. That would really show them you mean business.
