Because they just vanished.I was watching one minute gone the next. You missed them.Maybe check the link over the next few days and they might pop back.
It looked like lights going on and off in the sky like stars and some seemed to be over the mountains.

    Did you take any screenshots?

Good grief, there were exactly 33 replies to this thread when I logged on to m.boards.ie - why is it that I'm constantly seeing this number all over the place?

There is another video of lights over the volcano.

They look like stars in the day time sky.

Please point out because I ain't seeing it. There are over a million people living within a stone's throw of this volcano. I'm pretty sure some of them would have reported it if something odd was going on. Jumping to conclusions based on low res webcams is a stretch to say the least.

I have described what they look like in three posts already. They look like stars flashing on and off in day time sky. They are there for a few hours and then gone again. In those links they are traveling slowly towards the mountains coming from the sky.

Is it this one? Because there are a few videos flying around the place:

Firstly this video is not taken during the day it is night time. How do I know this? Go to 4:06 in the video and a little smaller screen pops up giving context to the video. We can clearly see the lights of what looks like traffic on a busy road flying by at the bottom of the screen. Obviously the camera is significantly adjusted to capture low level light. Secondly the video is speeded up or is a time lapse. We can establish this from the way the volcanic smoke behaves and from the speed and behaviour of the traffic in the smaller window.

The slowing moving lights in the sky are indeed stars. With the video being speeded up they appear to slowly drift across the sky. If we knew the orientation of the camera, time of the video and the date we could establish exactly which stars are on view. As for the faster streaks that show up, clearly these are aircraft. Japan has very busy airspace and there are a large number of airports in the country. No mystery here other than people letting their imaginations run wild.

Why don't the people living there see all of these UFOs?

    The possibilities are:

    1. They are special UFOs that can't be seen except through the magic webcam
    2. The people see them, but aren't interested by UFOs at all at all
    3. All the people in Japan are aliens, and they see them, but it's just like normal traffic for them

    OR

    4. It's just some issue with the webcam.

I'm going for option 4. What are you guys going for?

Edit: Ah, I see Namloc has identified what the issue is: low light, sped-up filming. Seriously Caseyann, why don't you try wearing a sceptical hat for a little while? You'll enjoy being right for a change! :)

No it is twilight, you can see the sun and shadow in the smoke, its timelapse, the fast moving objects in the sky are most probably jet aircraft with no contrail, the stars can be seen in the sky and fade in and out because of long exposure and cloud movement, the night creeps in and a star moves slowly across the sky.

I dont think they are ufos, just timelapse.
