    and forecast to develop more widely this afternoon. A fair chance that some localised downpours will occur with hail and thunder possible right up til evening, more particularly over the eastern half of the country.

    Looking at the netweather radar, there seems to be a very definite hook, the centre of which moved just south of Tullamore about half an hour an hour ago and has now just passed south of Tyrellspass. Looking like it will pass to the west or over Kinnegad. Looking southwest out my office window and it's pretty angry looking out there.

    As I type this, the Irish detectors are picking up on storms embedded within last night's rain front here that is currently tracking over the North Sea.

    No lightning over Ireland detected as of yet, but I suspect this will change. StratoQ pointed out this thread on the IWN... http://www.ukweatherworld.co.uk/forum/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=42214&posts=1&mid=618915#M618915

    Enjoy the storm spotting lads, 3-5pm should be good for it.

    Just watching ominous black clouds pass just south of me. Rain looks heavier than the radar might suggest. Looking forward to an interesting month.

    Maybe no snow but had really heavy hail here earlier on for about 5 mins! Blue skies all round now though.

    Totally weird weather here in the city centre. Half an hour ago I was walking around in the sunshine wearing short sleeves, and now it's bucketing down hailstones as heavy as I've ever seen it.

    Oh, and now it's stopped. Make up your mind crazy weather!!

    Looks like the cells in the South of the country are kicking off now too

    Looking out my back window here in D5, can see the very end of white clouds/blue sky and to the left see what appears to be Mordor.

    Clouds moving Left ---> Right

    Bring it on!!
