Happy Nut Roast & FAP day :D

This is just going to become another insipid over commercialised holiday like Valentine's. A day to needlessly celebrate those things that ought to be done every day.

I've heard some female vegetarians object to this festival on the grounds that encourages the consumption of meat. They want it changed to steak and handjob day.

Probably the lame idea of some typical "lad" who reads Nuts & watches "the footy". Cringeworthy.

    Yeah, you most likely.

So are you saying this "lads day" makes any odds to anyone ever, besides reeking of lame? "Guinness, Steak, Tits, Flourescent coloured shirt, FHM & Footy day, arf arf - wey hey"

So because it's not as sh*t as something else that's really sh*t, that makes it somehow good? Interesting logic.

And it's only ever a few goofs on Boards that seem to "celebrate" it - and I bet 99% of them "celebrate" it on here only. Nobody I know has even heard of it.

Has anybody actually ever heard an Irish "lad" use the term "footy"?

People who read Nuts and watch footy all drive. Usually modified cars.

I'd love to prove you wrong by saying I do the above and don't drive. But I don't read Nuts and I watch football, not footy.

    Damn it.

Well, I watch neither. What's the difference? Footy is soccer - what's 'football' then?

It's generally not called 'footy' in Ireland.

LOL - so it's okay to watch ENGLISH football as long as you don't use the English slang for it? I see... defo not hypocritical or contradictory in any capacity...

"Yeah, I love English football - I'm well passionate about it, I is - but I'd never, under any circumstances, ever use the same slang as them though - that'd be ridiculous and would totally contradict my Republican views!! English w*nkers! Let's go UTD!"

I never said anything about it being ok to call it one thing or another. It's just generally not called footy in Ireland.

But feel free to get all worked up about it.

Except you did - you said you watch "football" but you don't watch "footy" - but they're the exact same thing - it was you who differentiated between the phrases used to describe it.

It's what we call a joke. Are you familiar with jokes? They're these light-hearted things that people say in jest.

I never said there was anything wrong with calling it footy, just made a joke that I don't watch footy, I watch football because that's what we call it here in Ireland. It'd be like if someone said they don't drink tinnies, they drink cans - or they don't eat Canadian bacon they eat rashers. I'm not saying people can't call them that or even that there's anything wrong with it, just that we don't generally call them that here.

There was no mention of foreign games or republicanism or anything of the sort but that didn't stop you presuming that there was and getting yourself worked up into a right little tizzy over it.

Craig Doyle does say that alright. Perhaps I should start calling it that too, after all Craig Doyle is on the telly and he's Craig Doyle. When it comes down to it I suppose it's a case of Craig Doyle Craig Doyle Craig Doyle.
