Too much to expect the law to be upheld. Once there's jobs involved everything is fine. Should we go ahead and offer a ''get out of jail'' card for anyone willing to employ a few people. This is fvcked up.

My views on the matter are more personal. I just do not like this development, mainly the tacky casino and White House hotel elements. It's not one bit creative or original in my opinion. A casino in Tipperary? Who the hell would want to go there. You can just tell it will be as tacky as Tramore and places like that. I don't gamble but I was in Las Vegas once and I did gamble there, for the novelty. That's the only place I'd consider gambling. The Tipperary Venue will be nothing close to Las Vegas. Vegas is Vegas and nothing will ever replace it or the novelty of it. Maybe Macau but that was built for Asia and its billions of citizens.

im from tipp myself not far from this area where the casino is to be built, think this project is bit OTT tbh. ok it will bring jobs but we're in the middle of a terrible recession, i could see this project not being a success

Reading the thread title I thought this would be about an elephant in a St Patricks Day parade in Tipperary.

Does anyone know if the casino has started yet or who is building it?

    Yes,it's all finished.

It's just like Las Vegas in a field near Twomileborris, with lasers illuminating the night sky and a gigantic white elephant 1 million miles high.

Its not started yet and it wont be going ahead unless there is a u turn by the justice minister on casino laws and another submission for planning permission of music venue.

Oh I see. Is it a bad idea then? Would it not create jobs and bring in lots of revenue for the area?

The amount of money spent in our domestic economy is declining year on year so no, this would "create" F all jobs or revenue, merely shift them from somewhere else.
The only thing that creates jobs and revenue are manufacturing / service industries that either export or cut down on imports.
Thats what we need more of, not this crappy nonsense.
