    The sh*t emo weightlifter chronicles. The saga continues...

    Same as the previous two nights. Just feeling flat again coupled in with stiff back from Monday squats which was causing me to cut depth. I'm just wrecked tired in general as well. Form was going too much so cut the last set short because it wasn't worth finishing out.

    I was only going to do the squats tonight anyway with being tired and a busy day ahead of me tomorrow. I'll redo the 4x9 next Monday after the lower back stiffness has a few days to clear.

    Failed in the 5th set. My back was sore before starting which it has been since this time last week which didn't help but thought I could get through it anyway. Deadlifting on Saturday was probably a bad idea.

    I also misloaded 3rd set to 125kg. I thought it felt heavy but continued on with it. Squatting it confirmed my suspicions. It kinda threw me off then for the following set contributing to sore back. I suppose equaling current PB by accident ain't all bad though.

    Anyway that's me finished with smolov I'm sure I could do the 10 sets on another day but I won't bother retrying it. I'm going to start working towards a new max now. I've decided to do the 7,5,3 session with +5kg weights but only 1-3 sets. Then on to doubles, heavy singles and test. So maybe another 2-3 weeks before 1RM attempt.

    When I first thought of doing last smolov week with reduced sets I had 3x7 in my head but my back was still stiff from previous session so left it at one top set. Which was a good idea evidenced by the fact I meant to do 20 reps @ 90kg but was like f*ck that about 6 or 7 reps in.

    Trust in smolov. Well smolov base anyway. The 5RM was reasonably decent I probably could have managed 3x5 but I want to keep the aborty reps down while working towards a 1RM.

    In my head 120kg for sets of 5 across is respectable for my BW so not a million miles off now. Bejaysis I'll get there yet.

    Started a 6 week press program of Dead Ed's invention. The pause wasn't listed but while weights are light off himself recommended it. If I don't get massive gains I know who to blame. Hint not me.

    Press is interesting. Pause at chest, just below sticking (nose), just after sticking point(top of forehead) and then you pause again at the 3 positions when lowering the rep also. Gains.

    Vid of squats. Delay between first and second rep was err hmm clearing 'gas'. 2RM @ 125kg is next mini goal in lead up to max attempt.

    If at first you don't succeed try, try and try again. 4th time lucky like the time I was going for 125kg.

    I'll take the 130kg for the moment and shift focus to front squat & deadlift probably. My front squat is now easily my worst lift @ 102kg. In theory it should only take a few sessions of getting used to front squats again to get 105kg which would do for a start.

    The plan was to start olympic'ing again but I injured my wrist a few weeks ago playing football and the front rack position isn't too comfortable at the moment but it might be alright in another week or so.

    Starting a new block of training. Sorta. I got a 4 week olympic program off Ed a while back to start after I got the 130kg squat (planned on that like a month ago) but I can't do the lifts properly at the moment with my wrist.

    What I'm doing instead is jumpy stuff instead of the lifts and then doing the strength stuff off the program. I'm gonna keep training loose though and just get what I'm meant to do in over the course of the week whatever days I end up training.

    Squats are wide stance. Well wide compared to what I have been doing. Normal stance for most people. A bit outside shoulder width and angling toes out more. I had them al most straight ahead when going narrow.

    The general idea is build back some speed/power after neglecting it most of the year and bring up a few areas strength wise that I haven't done.
