Might be worth having a thread for any local events, especially of the free variety, that might interest D15 residents. Feel free to add to this thread, but no commercial advertising though. If you're not sure, just pm one of the mods here.

I'll get the ball rolling with Blanchardstown Area Partnership's 'Adult Learning Festival' starting March 7. These seem to be all free.

Also worth noting that Blanchardstown Library have a thread on the go for library events, so make sure to keep an eye on that.

Farmleigh are planning a series of free events over the Easter holiday.

As you probably know the new St Francis Hospice in Blanchardstown has opened on a phased basis adjacent to Connolly Hospital. No public funds for the completed building are forthcoming from state funds so public charitable financial support is vital. In time running costs will be taken up by the HSE but this will, no doubt, be an uphill struggle.

Laurel Lodge Hospice Fundraising Group are holding an Irish Night-- "From Clare to Here" in the Bell Pub/ Restaurant. Blanchardstown on Sat 11th June at 8.30 pm. Similar nights for different charities have been held there before and independent reviews were excellent. Admission at the door is €15-- good value for a good night of Irish /Songs/Music/ Storytelling/ Poetry/ Sean Nos/ Dance etc. While the artistes (many from the South West) are amateur and so providing their services free they are well respected "professional" musicians.

Please pass the word to any of your friends who might be interested.

Hi all, Was up in Westmanstown Earlier and found out that on 20th September 2012, Westmanstown shall be hosting a Coffee Morning in aid of St Francis Hospice. I believe this will be primarily targeted to all parents in the area although all are welcome to attend.

Great way of meeting a lot of people, new and old whilst at the same time raising some much needed funds for a non profit organisation which provides a specialist palliative care service for the people of North Dublin City and County.

The coffee morning shall be held from 09.30am and all proceeds raised shall be in aid of St Francis Hospice, which has a facility in Blanchardstown.

Speaking of the Hospice-- I believe there is a Hospice Fund Raising Golf Classic in Hollystown GC on 21st Sept. Good value at €200 per team of 4. Please pass the word to your various contacts north of the Liffey-- Blanchardstown and Raheny Hospices cover all of North County Dublin. Details from the Club or Oratory @ BTC

While the entire building and infrastructure is complete the 24 Bed In-Patient section, while ready, is yet to be opened. The Home Care team currently operate full time from the complex with Day Care/Out Patient Services operating on a limited two days a week basis. Previously anticipated HSE funding is proving extremely difficult due to present economic circumstances..

The fantastic Blanchardstown Brass Band are playing from 7 - 9pm in the towncentre - this Thursday 11th Dec.

In aid of Sara Walsh Delaney.
In oct 2011 Sara was 28 and married just 4 months when she was diagnosed with a brain tumour. She has been in hospital ever since. Friends and family are fundraising for her rehabilitation.

I love the blanch brass band. Going to get me a red cup of coffee from starbucks and find a nice spot and enjoy the atmosphere :)
