Yeah, maybe they should regurgitate the same plodding, lumpen drivel like that was the staple of that band… what was their name?

Agreed. All Oasis songs are just 3 chords, nothing more. "Live Forever" clearly sounds the same as "Who Feels Love?" I'm always confusing those two!!!!!!

Glad I got my "I refuse to criticise Radiohead so I'll have a go at the more important rock band of the last 20 years" rebuttle from the modest, thoughtful bunch of gentlemen who constitute the Radiohead Fanboy Brigade (RFB). Nice post on the Liam Gallagher thread suggesting all Beady Eye fans are idiots as well. Only wish I was well educated in Ireland's best university, like you.

Well, they both sound like they were sung by Corky from Life Goes On so I can see where the confusion arises. Don't take it too hard though.

I already said I wasn't a fanboy. I have yawning gaps in my knowledge of Radiohead - I don't know Kid A or Amnesiac like I already said but I'm enjoying this new album. I only took a pop at the 'more important rock band of the last twenty years' because it was in your username. I ain't down with the idea that because it isn't played on guitars by a bunch of middle aged lads it isn't any good or the idea that if technology is used it somehow negates the music being any good.

To be fair I was really only taking a pop at some of the replies ricero was posting. That whole idea of people not liking hackneyed Instant Karma ripoffs are '****ing students' who like 'puff' bands is beyond stupid.

You can see where your own confusion arises, good stuff.

I like plenty of Radiohead music post-OK Computer. The best album is The Bends however. I'm open to different kinds of music as long as I like what I hear; much of Radiohead's later work is not up to scratch. That said, there are also amazing songs like "Pyramid Song" and "Jigsaw Falling Into Place." I ain't down with the idea that just because it is different, it's good.

To be fair, anyone educated at third level is c*ck... Admittedly that does make me a c*ck but I must stay true to the stereotypical Oasis fan image.

Apologies for going off-topic but some points raised in the last few posts deserve a response.

Right so. I trust most people are familiar with Don't Look Back in Anger? As I recall the verse riff on that goes C->G->Am->E->F->G->C->Am->G so that's five different chords used there and that's just one song.

So anyone who's ever gotten a certificate/diploma/degree is a cock in your eyes? You do realise you're dismissing a huge percentage of the adult population of this country?

I think Oasis Dublin was taking the piss out of my assertion that Oasis regurgitate the same plodding, lumpen drivel. Tbf though I never mentioned anything about the amount of chords.

Again, he was taking the piss out of something I said in another thread which I thought was quite smart for an Oasis fan… ;)

I used to love Radiohead up to and including Kid A, but I went off them - no idea why. I certainly feel like a right idiot now after listening to this new release, it's great! I think it's quite hauntingly beautiful (and diverse) on first listen, certainly not laptop porn as some have said.

Don't make me report you, ya bully!

I've listened to it at least a million times... give or take a few listens.

If radiohead continue to reduce their sound to be any more minimalist, they will be silence.

Don't be ridiculous. The new album is quite dense. Just because they're not going kamikaze with the instrumentation doesn't mean it's minimalist. There's a lot going on, on the King Of Limbs.

Not to seem like I'm berating you or jumping on the fanboy flamewagon, but did you listen to the album? Objectively, regardless of opinion or subjectivity or anything, it's anything but minimalist. There are songs with mostly just piano or one guitar, but that's hardly remarkable is it?
