Brunswick War Merit Cross, 2nd class (Braunschweig Kriegsverdienstkreuz, II. Klasse)
Establised by Duke Ernst August on 23 October 1914, as a one class, bravery/merit award in action. On 20 March 1918, a first class of the Cross was created in pinback. After that this cross became a second class and awarding criterias had similarities as a Prussian Iron Cross.

Hi Phaeton,

Just looked through that again and I must say you have quite a varied and extensive collection.

I particularly like the workmanship on the Serbian Order of St.Sava. I also like the Polish Lithuanian-Belorussian Front badge - beautiful piece.

I see you have quite some Japanese orders, something I am interested in but never took the plunge since I have not done enough research on their awards yet.

I haven't come across may of these awards yet and I have been to quite a few shops outside Ireland. May I ask where you picked most of it up - was it online or through fairs?

Thanks!

Thanks!

I mainly get my stuff from fellow collectors who I know from different countries or online. I havenät picked up many items from here because high prices (lets say like it is - overpriced) and lots of copies. However, I have find some very good bargains as well.

Regarding Japanese awards.... I haven't post up most of my Japanese medals yet. I will try to scan them in coming weeks.

Here is some another items:

French The Colonial Medal (la Médaille Coloniale), 1st type, with rare Tonkin clasp 1893-1898

Imperial Germany. Reuss. Silver Medal of Merit with Swords of the Princely Reuss Cross of Honour (Silberne Verdienstmedaille mit Schwertern zum Fürstlich Reußischen Ehrenkreuz), 1909-1918 issue

Pretty scarse because Reuss was small - population in 1914 less then 250,000.

Hello Timo and welcome to the forum, it's good to see you here.

I am amazed by both your collection and your photography! I have always kept an eye on your posts on GMIC but had thought that you only collected ribbon bars, so to see all these beautiful medals is indeed a surprise.
Keep them coming!

Regards - Dan

Yeah, ribbon bars has been my main collecting area last few years but unfortunately many of them (especially named imperial Germany ones I let go end of the last year). As well most of the post WW2 period bars (inlcuding admirals, generals bars what I had) - I lost interest.
Medals I had been picked up slowely as a side hobby only:D

I will try to start posting my bars what I have left up as well some moment.

Here is one British one - interesting combination with the service during WW1, earned M.I.D. and LS&GC award:cool:.

One of my modest ribbon bars what I have left now:D

Spanish ribbon bars are supprisingly hard to find (somehow at least for me). Meantime I haven't look them as well when I have been in there for a holiday.

Here is the ribbon bar for the Spanish soldier, who served from 1930s up to WW2. During WW2 he saw service with the Blue Division in Russia and earned as well German Iron Cross 2nd class (as Iron Cross and German Winter campaign awards are foreign for him, these are placed in the end)
