Highlights on Eurosport 2 at 7.30pm and Eurosport at 11pm

EDIT - they seem to have just changed their schedule - it's only showing up as on Eurosport at 11 now - bobsleigh now on Eurosport 2!

    Cav takes another tumble
..... doesn't seem too bothered though...

Absolutely no spectators... looks really weird..... must be a whole lot of money tied up in this race...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,469 ✭✭✭TheBlaaMan

    YAWN....!

Well that was fairly uninteresting.............like watching paint dry,
except for when Cav went on his ear - I bet Greipel was pissing himself laughing wherever he was at the time.
...........looks all over for any chance of GC victory for him..?

    Worst prologue ever

It's just a training race really for the classics guys.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 133 ✭✭pmcd22

it was weird enough with the lack of spectators. then the route design and layout. looked more like an obstacle course. but he, it only can get beter from that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,318 ✭✭✭✭Raam

I was there for new years. Cultural Village is a little bit outside the busier part of Doha so there wouldn't be a whole lot of through traffic there. Added to that, the Qatari people don't seem to care for cycling and it's their equivalent of Monday today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,625 ✭✭✭happytramp

I watched this earlier and I don't have a word of Flemmish but I swear I could understand half of what these guys were saying.

The lack of spectators was eerie. Tour of Quatar does seem to be a bit of a snoozefest. Hopeful the coming stages will be a bit more interesting, not that that would be hard.

Very poor atmos, no supporters and a pretty weird route. Not impressed

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 631 ✭✭✭Fender76

He was wearing his rainbow World Champ skin suit...
So, if Thor Hushovd had been racing in Qatar would he have worn his too...?
    Confusing...

Maybe Cancellarra only wears his for time trials...?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 260 ✭✭mo_bhicycle

Thor can't wear stripes for a TT

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 11,669 Mod ✭✭✭✭RobFowl

Cancellara is allowed wear the rainbow jersey in tt's and Thor Hushvold is allowed wear it in road races.

Generally the World and also National champions jersey is worn in the event it was won in while the rider holds the title.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,318 ✭✭✭✭Raam

Also, he'd get in trouble if he didn't wear it.

Anyone else notice that yellow-thing on his fork?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 631 ✭✭✭Fender76

    Ah I see... mystery solved...!

What was up with Cav yesterday... I know he crashed but he really looked like he didn't give a flying f*ck about the race... bet he's getting paid a fortune in appearance fees...

Poor wee Cav,I thought he looked quite lean on tv, he's tiny anyway. Don't think he's much of a drinker.

Cancellara has lost a lot of weight, it will be interesting to see how he goes this year.

He's said that with suitable preparation he reckons he can win L-B-L and Lombardy some time in his career. This will presumably involve losing a lot of muscle mass...so maybe this will be the year!

One of the new Lithuanian riders. Sam Bennett finished inside the top 30 not far behind.

Holy sh1t.... that was some speed the bunch were going at last night towards the end....

Cancellarra was giving it socks up front....!

Amazingly boring route tho... just one big long flat desert road....

yeah, there isnt much in term of spectacle. They just go staright and fast. I think
    Cav's crash
in the prologue was probably all there will be.

I don't follow the Pro-cycling,but is it not an embarresment that there is no spectaters lining the route??I remember the TDF here in Ireland back in the day and the route was lined with people, even the Nissan Tours had loads of people out on the side of the road here.Is the Tour of Qatar just all about apperance money to the teams??Damn the fact the locals dont care???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,625 ✭✭✭happytramp
