No such thing as Independent Labour or Independent FF, these are mé féin bog standard Independents eg Mattie in Tipp or anything called Blaney.
Thanks, Sponge Bob, I know that
However, that's what she's calling herself. I realise she's independent, even though she was on the labour party until about 1week ago, and if (that's a very big if by the way) she got elected she'd immediately go back into the Labour fold.

THE GREEN Party candidate who led a one-day boycott of Mass was forced to withdraw from the race because she is not an Irish citizen.
Jennifer Sleeman (81) was unveiled as the candidate in Cork South West last week.
The environmentalist said that she was somewhat relieved but feels she has let down the party.

    Expect a new candidate shortly.

Is there any reason why the ULA candidates don't have profile pictures in this poll?

Hi, because we take this information from the database that TheJournal.ie are putting together, it may simply be that we haven't been supplied with a photo yet.

    IN Galway East:

    1) There are no Green candidates, is this true?

    2) Paul Connaughton Jr.'s website link isn't working, and is the same link as his father's, who is a former politician in that constituency.

Also, if possible, I hope you will use proper statistical techniques, like calculating a confidence interval or correcting for the different demographics of boards.ie users compared to voters in general.

If you are using the m.boards.ie site then it is probably linking you through to m.boards.ie/vote which doesn't exist. It should still work if you change it url to boards.ie/vote

When I log in to vote I can't select any candidates - they will not 'select' for me when I click on them. Is it because I have posted less than 25 posts? if so I feel disenfranchised! Maybe I'm missing something obvious though...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,241 ✭✭✭Darragh

You are clicking on the green "Select" button under them, are you?

There's more details over on http://www.boards.ie/vote/help.php

But you'll see the select button (btn-vote-select.png) under the photos, like below:

    vote-help-select.png

When you do this, they'll move into the right column like this:

    vote-help-reorder.png

and then when you're happy with your vote, click "Vote Here"

    vote-help-confirm.png

    Hope that helps!

Is it because they're in the PBP also!:confused:

What's the story with the candidates from United Left Alliance, Socialist Working Party and People Before Profit?

Can a candidate be in three parties? it's very confusing!

No Clement Esebamen listed in Dublin Mid West.
    He's running as an independent.

I used to feel the same way when learning about 'The Trinity' in religious knowledge classes at school.

Eventually came to the conclusion it was all a con. Oh! Is that 'libelous blasphemy'?

Only if you think RBB is God.

People before Profit is an alliance between the Socialist Workers Party and local campaign groups. The United Left Alliance is a electoral alliance between the PbP alliance, the Socialist Party and the Workers and Unemployed Action Group.

    General:
    * Is there a means of recording / showing the number of tweets?
    * Not all pages are showing "Undecided:" and "Spoiled Votes:". This may be because the current value is zero. It might be useful to include them, even if the value is zero.
    * On the "Party 1st Preferences", numbers should preferably be right justified or right indented. Numbers should all show the same number of decimal places, e.g here, the 6% should display as 6.0% - putting the decimal points over one another makes it easier to compare numbers. See attachemnt.
    # Party Name Votes Support
    1. Fine Gael 34 40.5%
    2. Labour.... 28 33.3%
    3. Sinn Féin 11 13.1%
    4. Fianna Fáil 6 7.1%
    5. Independent 5 6%

Thansk all. All omissions and errors have been passed on to the team and hopefully tomorrow's update will fix them.

I'll post back here when it's done.

The latest national results shows others at about 16%. Clicking show more results shows Independants at 14.3%.

I really think others on the National Results should independants at the 14.3 % and do not include the total from other parties.

There is a difference between small parties and independants.

The Christian Solidarity folks have published a list of candidates which you might want to add to the constituencies. Never heard of them before, they look like a single issue party.

From out there on the moon, international politics look so petty. You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, ‘Look at that, you son of a bitch’.
