Just a couple of photo's of the picatinny setup i now have on my Sako 75 308.
The rail and mounts are from the Burris range. The rail slides on and is held in place with a single grub screw.

    Nice one Clive!
Those Burris XTR rings are great value and very strong.
I would love to get the picatinny top for mine as it would make mounting a light a lot easier.
I'll have to get some pics of my A-bolt with a similar setup, except for the solid Picatinny rail

Nice set up Clive, but a quick question.

From the photo the scope would appear to be clearing the barrel by only a mil or two, but the front objective lens cover seems to be making contact with the barrel. Is it? If so are you concerned about change in harmonics or that the scope may be affected by the "vibration" of the barrel when the rifle is fired?

I wish I could get my scope to sit that low!

    Nice gun Clive!

    Well spotted but not true.

When it was all put on the Butler Creek cover was tipping off the barrel. But only the seam of the rubber so not a lot, a quick rub on the belt sander and I now have almost a full 1mm of clearance.
I also used a B-Square picatinny level, ;12, on the rail to level the rifle and then I leveled the scope by viewing the target backboard plank as my horizontal level and lined up the horizontal reticle on it.

For the first time ever I have a scope that is NOT canted off centre. I centered the reticle using the turret centre mark arrows. First shot was 4" low and 1" right @100m, I came up 4" MOA and it was still 1" right. 2 more shots gave me a tight clover leaf. Then to check I was correct in the vertical I came down 6" and to my surprize I was still at the 1" right but 6" lower. I gave it 1" left and up 6" to get me bang on the bull.
I dialed in 1 1/2" of up and that was me finished for the stalking setup I like to have on the rifle. It should be zero @185m ish.

CJ the picatinny tops are cheap enough on the US Ebay.com site @$18 and look to be very handy to have.
