Bull...if it wasn't for the Rooneys there's no way there'd be so much talk about using Croke Park! The market here is much smaller than holding it anywhere else in the UK!

Scotland is probably the most rabid of all the 'nations', but Murrayfield is apparently a very outside bet. Wales hasn't featured hugely in the conversation and the best location in the UK isn't available for a second game next season.

I sounds like it's between Dublin, Munich and Frankfurt and we have the very significant advantage of being in the same market as the Wembly game, which would let the NFL stick to developing one market at a time, as they've said they'd like to do. We have a real shot at this and having someone as influential as Dan Rooney on our side just adds to that.

Had to laugh at the Independent's piece today, though, saying that the Notre Dame-Navy game might be a negative - especially if the second game doesn't start until 2013 that game is a golden opportunity we have to show there's a demand for a game, something the other competitors don't even have the option of doing. Nevermind that they're two distinct codes of the same game and that an NFL game would have a deeper reach outside Ireland than a college game!

    An update, of sorts

On the possibility of Steelers in Dublin
"That's a possibility, although from what I understand, probably not 2012 as far as Ireland is concerned," Steelers president Art Rooney II said.

That's because Notre Dame is playing a game against Navy in Ireland this year.

"We may not want to piggy-back on top of that game," Rooney II said. "If it's going to be Ireland, it will more likely be 2013."
