    Doesn't work. You can only record what you are watching.

    For more advanced recording functions you would really need a dedicated PVR.

    I thought that would be the case. I'll probably get the Samsung D6500 anyway, and then get a humax freesat pvr later on once I've convinced the wife!

    the best sony freesat tv on the market at that time now a lot of tvs just have free to air satellite tuners but still sony is a good tv compared to a lot of tvs out there

    jacob2, this thread is from 2011. :eek:

    I bought a LG 47LM649S in 2013 - it has wifi, 3d etc but more importantly both dvb-s & dvb-t tuners, ie, I have it working directly wired to the Sky dish, and the roof-top antenna, and I get every channel possible. Loads of HD channels, no shortage of interesting programs to watch. Saorview EPG is limited but I can live with that.

    Anyway, old thread, and this type of TVs are probably the norm now anyway.
