Put Swarovsky 8x50 on steyr prohunter 308 , Manually bore sighted it, first 6-7 shots above cross 100mtrs. Quick adjust 6-7 shots into bull, not bad for an out of box factory rifle, with T8 Supressor, 150 gr Core lockt Remington.:D

Nice going. She is working well for ya.

Seems to be the right thread so excuse me for the "small hijack".

Ye are all Steyr men. What would be best in a Steyr Mannlicher, Pro Hunter in 6.5x55. My mate bought one a couple of weeks ago and dropped over tonight to ask me to check the twist rate rate. its a 1:8. He is using 140 gr rounds, not sure of the make, but wondering what you lads recommend for this rifle and to suit the fast twist rate?

    That's a great group for 8x.

Plenty of Deer live in Fear.
I prefer zero'ing on cardboard as it is easier to see the strikes IMHO.
I gave up shooting A4 as it turns to shi*e in this damp weather.

The shoot and See's are good if you could not be arse walking up and down to the Target too :D

I reinspected my groups the other day with Superperformance .308's

    I actually had a 3 shot and a 2 shot nice groups.

After that teh Moderator was too hot to see through the heat waves :(

I have noticed the ASE seems to heat more than the reflex

I have the exact same rifle. Shooting 140 gr federal fusion at the moment, dropping sika, fallow, reds and foxes no problem :D

1" high 3/4" groups at 100 yds, 2.5" low at 200. €35 a box which isnt bad these days.

A lot recommend 120gr Norma's, havnt tried them yet myself but will get couple of boxes and try them out when stalking finished.

    .

Thats what he is currently using, i think. They are definitely 140gr and he is getting great results. He just asked what i was using when i had the 6.5, but the problem with mine was she was a heavy, 26", target barrelled rifle and was unbelievably fussy when it came to any ammo bar the Lapua target stuff. So didn't want to keep suggesting rounds as his gun may not like them. Also the Norma i used are expensive, and he uses the 6.5 for deer and foxes, so at €2.50 per round its not cheap shooting (fox wise).

had the same rifle myself and used the 140 gr federal rounds with no probs ,but found the 120gr normas gave tighter groups on papper although the price of them ment i stayed with federal fusions for all my hunting ...

My thoughts exactly, at €50 and over a box it's expensive shooting !! If I get anything under 1" at 100 yds I'm happy :)

I fired off a box of MC 150gr for zeroing and grouping, then Ten rounds of 150gr Core Lokt exact same trajectory and grouping. Barrel very hot, but with the Neoprene sleeve on the Moderator I had no problem with heat wave.

I have that self adhesive camo tape on it.

The Reflex does not appear to have the same issue.
Perhaps as it was a frost day the effect was worse as the air was very moist and was almost like fog

Edit:I hate Paint, Should read 150 grain SST Superperformance

I had a steyr prohunter before the rifle I have now (also a steyr)
I found it worked best with 120gr Norma BT's
