Ever notice how people still say things like "I'm just going to stay in and rent a video" or still call xtra vision "the video library"... weird.

I had to read that twice... For a minute I though you'd found some interesting home movies.

I cut mine down with blank DVDs and sell them on the street for a massive mark up.

It's not really. People calling VHS tapes 'videos' is weird. Video just that, video. It's no more to do with VHS tapes as it is DVDs.

DON'T THROW THEM OUT PLEASE :)

Give them to your local Charity Shop..

Most Charity Shops I know sell them for 50c or €1 each..

Better the Charity getting the money than you paying bin charges..

    :)

I made a coffee table out of them

And by "coffee table" I mean "stack of tapes I put stuff on!"

I still have my My Little Pony video though, I watched it a few weeks ago

Actually, quick question for somebody who might know.

I have a tape with all my family recorded on it from 1987. My father is on it and he died ten years ago, so would love to get it put on DVD. Only problem is, we put it in storage, among other things, when we moved house a few years ago, and somehow it got damp and am worried about its condition. Is there anywhere anybody knows of to clear it of moisture and put it onto DVD? Thanks

I still use them. I bought a few Naked Gun videos in Empire Records (or Tower Records, can never remember the name) in Carlow a few months ago.
I still use cassettes too. The car doesn't have a cd player and I'll be fucked if I'm paying €15 for one of those mp3-to-cassettee tupe devises!
Cassette tapes all the way for me.

You know you can buy those in €2 shops right? And online for less than a euro.

Really! I think I'll have to invest in one. I really love the feeling of playing tapes though. I'm such an old man lol.

They're a pain in the arse when they jam though.

I actually still remember taping songs off CDs, Having to hold the feckin record button and timing it precisely.

Found this for you after a quick google, I haven't used them but you could give them a ring. I'm sure there is others. I'm sure they probably unwind the tape and clean it all. There are probably lots of people doing it around the country..

Lol, still do it. Taping songs off youtube is a handy solution for the not so technologically advanced like myself. Why do they have to make all this new technology so complicated! I had to ask my friend how to put songs onto my mp3 player because I just hadn't a clue.

big dirty black sack of cult classics n live shows are in a closet, in the attic. including japanese pro-shot of the Stoned Poser's last show @ reading 96 featuring me onstage ^^ bet theres some indie kids jealous :p

tbh i got bored of hording physical media. have taken up the minimalist approach, fúck clutter. flash memory is an ample description for where i like to keep it

At my parents stored in the attic.

Got rid of them all. Shame really had some awesome classics and cult hits...

I never had any VHS tapes as I never had a video player.

Still have loads of cassette tapes though - mostly with stuff recorded off the radio & "mix tapes".

I play them from time to time when I'm feeling sentimental.

    Mix tapes, a dead art.
Nothing I enjoyed more than making mix tapes with the most inappropriate songs I could find and delivering them on behalf of my friends to anyone they fancied. The gift that keeps on giving.

good thing about a mix tape was you could link tracks without the delay, with about 1 second overlap, unlike the digital forms where there's always a gap between

I still have some of my original VHS tapes. Nothing like watching the original unadulterated Star Wars Trilogy before the greedy gobsh!te George Lucas came back and f***ed them up with the extra CGI!

You can now convert them to DVD. I got one done last year for about €20. It was worth it as its not sold on DVD.

I got rid of a couple of hundred last year , some to charity shops and the rest binned although I still have about 50 which like good books , you want to keep .I have about 12 which I intend converting to dvd ,some of which will be of special family and friends occasions .

I still watch some of them, the others I have used to record other movies from the telly :)

There's three bachelor's living in the same house, beside my parents. I was throwing mine out so i gave some 200 movies to them.

I used to get the 240min ones, and record 4 movies on LP on them :D Sometimes though, one of the movies would be unusally long and the end would be missing :(

Quality was ****e too, but i though it was a great lad, being economical with me vidyos :pac:
