Alison :pac:. That said I'd believe most of what was in the article because I have heard similar stories abroad before; the vandalism, the acting the bollíx, the naked trips to other rooms. Nothing particular to Trinity either.

That paper is a rag. Anything that Alison O'Riordan writes should be taken with more than a pinch of salt.

I didn't see that originally but I did find the writing pretty poor and amateur. Is that THE apartment girl?

College Students in Drunken Misbehaviour Shocker!

They were probably all high on the meph that dealers now leave outside apartments like some manner of narcotic milk-men. Apartments that are now being sold so cheaply it makes grown women cry and pose grumpily on their balconies!

Two years ago, with help from my parents, I bought into the same sought-after riverside location in Dublin 2, but for the horrifying sum of €525,000.
Tales of daddy's credit card being used to buy massive rounds of drinks are only the minor details to have filtered back to Ireland.

Apparently only Alison is allowed use the parents money for something without it being insult worthy.

To be honest it sounds like the students put their parents money to far better use than our dear old Alison ever did!

That's just a bollocks story. No one at all is on record as having said anything happened at all, just that things are being 'investigated'. No names, no charges, no photos, no nothing.

    And I hate students. GRRR.

Another girl woke up to three male students masturbating in her room.

The real tragedy is that those pints are now worth a FRACTION of what those poor students paid for them. I expect shots of hungover orange-hued Trinity boys posing beside a urinal with their pockets turned out.

the three men, dressed only in scarfs and crested blazers, were being treated for shock, one reportedly admitting " we mistakenly went into an occupied room to have an... erm, private conversation, and were abhorred by what we discovered... a woman in a nightdress":D

Seriously how would you be able to do it with two guys in the room.

Look at the girl and only the girl, don't look sideways, look at the girl...

How do you come to that sort of conclusion? Oh there's a girl asleep so let's all take it out?

Lol, you have to love these sensationalised articles about “rich kids” alleged, supposed, no evidence or pic just hear say, antics!! But its rich kids, lets do a story and expose what really goes on, let send in Paul Williams to expose these "scum"

I’d say there were doing what we all did as students, got drunk, had a good time, rest is more than likely made up

What I used to do is photo copy fifty euro notes and burn the copies. I'd ask others for fifties and switcharoo with my bogey notes and burn the evidence.

"Swastikas being spray-painted by the Irish students on to walls of the accommodation ensured the gendarmes were called," said another source.

This is just vintage O'Riordan..badly written, made up and supposedly quoted by a real person.
How she's still writing for newspapers is beyond me.

    I'm disgusted by that article.

I went to TCD in the 90s and it wasn't half as much fun as it sounds there. :(

Because it didnt happen..as with everything that woman writes the article consists largely of conjecture, fallacy and mendacity.

Yea nobody smokes €50 notes. The €500 note would make a great joint though.
I'll have to stick to the €5 notes for a long time though I think.

€500 notes are a good buzz, fivers are trippy as ****, but those €50's get you MAD PARO.

    Such cheap journalism!

She speaks of 300 students from Dublin, the majority believed to be from TCD. She uses this as an excuse to attack the institution and play on stereotypes without feeling any sense of obligation to clarify whether the particular students involved in certain incidents were TCD or not.

She's writing fluff, not doing investigative journalism.

Agreed. But it's still frustrating to find it in a supposedly serious newspaper posing as a genuine account. Rant over. I can lighten up now.:D

It's clear that she cobbled it together from the flotsam and jetsam that's crammed into the Sindo' 'Stuff that Salacious' file.

    Nazi Symbol - Check
    Gang **** - Check
    Posh Childer - Check
    Drugs - Check

    Pulitizer - ........

The indo reads like a redtop tabloid at times imo. Shocking considering it is sold as a broadsheet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,231 ✭✭✭✭ejmaztec

I could write an article about a wind-surfing weekend for Trinity students, which took place a year or so ago. I know that not one of them took part in the activity, because they were all too busy getting pissed and stoned in their rooms for the weekend. I think they were all doing PHDs in Oblivion.

I could write it, but I won't (unless the money's good)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,847 ✭✭✭HavingCrack

I'm actually shocked the editing at the Indo has gone downhill so badly. How the fcuk could any editor worth their job let such a sloppy, lazy, completely unsubstantiated and possibly libelous piece of journalism into the paper. The Indo is now a tabloid for all intents and purposes, it hasn't done any serious journalism in at least 5 years.

Why is Trinity a college for rich kids? People from UCD, DIT, DCU and all the rest got into their colleges through the exact same process, the CAO. Trinity is no more expensive than any of the others.

UCD was founded by Cardinal Newman as the catholic university. ;)
