Is there any young person in Carlow that would be fit to run as a candidate in the election. Jeniffer Murnane is not a suitable candidate for national Politics. People with VISION not pot hole fillers or medical card sorter outers.

Councillors do a good job localy but not in national Politics.

labour have gotten a few things right over the last few years: tax breaks for developers, Bank guarantee, necessity of nationalising the real banks.

    Come off it will yeah.

tax breaks for developers: So they went out and got upto their necks in Borrowings

    Bank Guarantee: Impossible farse

Nationalising the Banks: Should we not have let them go bankrupt all on their own private selfs without bringing the WHOLE country with them?

    Poll conducted in Carlow/Kilkenny.

Looks like their given John Cassin a chance for a seat. (and rightly so IMO)

The bank guarantee was the right step to take, but should only have been a temporary measure to let the banks get their house in order

Labour proposed nationalising the banks quickly, and also temporarily. The government didnt want to do this but lo and behold had to anyway, after pumping loads of money into them.

Maybe temporary might have worked... but we'll never know now :(

    Hi guys
Let's try keep this on topic in regards the nominated candidate. There is a specific forum for the above type of political debates (link) and an associated sub forum for the 2011 election (link)

    Regards
    Tommy

Response to tombull 2: afraid you misunderstood me. Labour opposed tax breaks to developers, correct policy. Gov has nationalised systemically inportant banks via scenic route, Labour recommended doing it immediately, again correct policy.

As regards being described a "hack". I find this a derogatory term. what's wrong with a bit of balance in the discussion. thought we were living in a democracy. I am a party supporter and I hope that Des Hurley gets elected to the Dail along with as many other new labour supporters as possible. This will bring benefits for the people of this country imo. Hope this forum can handle this position without taking offence.

All that can be hoped for is that it is a fair fight and people make an informed choice that best serves this country.
